GOP Congressional Candidate Attacks YMCA Campers
Thought they were illegals. So desperate to attack kids that he is didn't bother to check what kids he was attacking.
Bus full of brown kids....Lets go scream at them. Oh - wait, they're just YMCA campers.
http://www.azcentral.com/story/brahm-res.../12701279/
He's not a fringe candidate from a GOP perspective.
This is going to cause the end of any Mexican American support for the GOP for generations
And the Sheriff in the story, Paul Babeu, lived with an illegal and then tried to get him deported when they broke up. He knew that his boyfriend was illegal the entire time they lived in the same home. Arizona Sheriff..'continue sleeping with me or I'll have you deported'. A complete piece of sh(t. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/18...86353.html

RE: GOP Congressional Candidate Attacks YMCA Campers
I heard about the first story. But did you ever think that we have so many illegals floating around this country that anybody could be one? And as the title says, it was a mistake. But if there weren't thousands of illegals floating around there wouldn't have been a mistake and all would be right with the world. So I blame in on Obama and the illegals. Did you expect otherwise?
As for the second story, if the allegations are true, then I agree with you.

Those guys should find some way to express their displeasure with George Bush's legislation mandating immigration treat unaccompanied minors from other than Mexico in ways that doesn't involve screaming at kids. Those people are friggin consumed by hatred of 'the brown' (and guys, that's what it looks like) To the extent that GOP officials support these protesters they will own the actions of what is happening there.
Sheriff Babeu ran all around Tucson for months with his bf Jose. He's lying about his relationship with Jose, he's lying about his knowledge of his status. I believe Jose's characterization of the breakup. But look at it this way, Paul Babeu is going to have a hard time finding any Hispanic who will sleep with him after his 'performance' at that protest yesterday.

I'm sorry, these are different issues. Elian Gonzales was the case of a custody dispute. This is a case of nativist mobs so upset about 'the brown' that they'll go after anyone the think is foreign, even kids, even American kids.

He appears to be the leading candidate for the GOP nomination for a swing district.
Another swing and a miss for the GOP in their attempts to take back that House seat. Self inflicted too.

What a total idiot. And I think he was lying about even seeing the kids faces on the bus anyway. Reports were that they were snapping photos with their phones and the side of the bus appeared to have dark tinted windows too!

He's such a huge household name that this is the first time I've ever heard of him.
Anyways, most of America is angry with the obama administration over his lack of control about the border situation. That's a REAL self inflicted wound.

"Hatred of brown people"
You people are pathetic. That's just like you thinking we have a "hatred for black people" because we disagree with obama. Most of America doesn't want illegal "brown" people dumped all over us.
And LOL @ the huffington post for putting out a story about the sheriff being gay. For a group that loves everything dealing with gays, you guys sure love to label someone as such when you think it will hurt them. Hypocritical bastards.

Then you lefty morons piss and moan that we hate these people, that Bush hates these people and shows no compassion, and turn right around and blame him for this crisis after he showed compassion. Make up your mind which story you want to go with.
Idiots.

Dude, it's a congressional race in Arizona. There's not that many household names among house members.
You ever heard of Bob Latta? How about Tim Walberg? Kristi Noem? Phil Roe? Peter Welch? I think you get the point.

Even if I take my partisan blinders off, I fail to see how this method of protest helps the GOP.
The GOP could have won this argument by simply staying out of it and proposing some non-politically charged solution to the problem and funding the interim scenario.
But they can't do that. This has nothing to do with kids, and everything to do with GOP politicians trying to win a Primary. They need their photo-op and need to remind voters that they are more against Hispanics than any other candidate in the race. But there's a price to be paid and cumulative impact of all this mob enabling and pandering....the people subjected to this will remember it a long time after the conservatives have moved on to something else.
You know Pete Wilson ran an 'anti-Spanish' campaign for Governor in 1994. He won that race. But he lost any hope in California for the Conservatives to gain significant Hispanic votes for 30 years. This is about 1000 times uglier.
There is an ugliness with all of this that will not sit well with many independent and moderate voters and deeply offends most Hispanic voters. Do you think women voters (who tend to be the swingiest voters) are going to react well to the visuals of people screaming at kids???
This is pure political malpractice on the part of the GOP.

He's a state Rep running for a Congressional seat. No other GOP candidate holds elected office. Its a swing district too with a first term D in it. He was the 'candidate' thought to be the chance to take the seat.
There are lots of candidates that have no fundraising, no hope of winning, no support who run for vanity purposes on both sides. This wasn't one of them.

One would think that attacking people at a Christian Association camp would gain support from the left.
