RE: ESPN commitment to the ACC?
The schools that play SEC schools yearly, need to start beating their SEC opponents every year, rather then losing. Once that starts to happen, plus beat them in bowls, then the talking heads will change their habits, but not until.

The ACC is an afterthought to ESPN in regards to coverage, propaganda, networks, time slots and contract agreements. That's not new. That's not going to change.

The schools that don't have annual SEC rivals and typically are mediocre-at-best nationally need to stop being mediocre-at-best and winning their bowl games. Once that happens the dopes on tv will sing a different tune.

Tell you what, the schools that play SEC schools will work on that. How about since your school likes to play B1G schools yearly you try to win those regularly instead of what you've done the past few years. Deal?

A record 449 media members were credentialed for ACC Kickoff this year. (665 if you count bowl reps and assorted extras).

As the only school that seems to be able to beat the SEC regularly head-to-head, everyone get you stuff together.

Especially you Dabo. Stop bending over and peeing like a submissive dog at the sight of Spurrier.

Since 2008 FSU is 5-3 against SEC and UofL is 4-3. These figures include bowl games. We will do our part and are trying to schedule more than 1 SEC team every year. 04-cheers

RE: ESPN commitment to the ACC?
The media is no different than a tick - a parasite that sucks blood.

The media will hype whatever they think will give them the highest ratings until something more shiny comes along. Other than Clemson and FSU, and to a lesser degree Duke, there is nothing to hype in the ACC this year. UNC will get it's usual early season hype and collapse. Miami, VT, and GT have not done much in the last have decade. Bad coaches pushed NC State and UVa into the crapper. Unless Jesus Christ or Superman suits up for BC or WF, they are not going to be hyped.

How does it matter?

Is ESPN engaged in attempting to sell an ACC network right now? No

Do you recall ESPN every hyping SEC basketball? No

Is ACC football as good as SEC football? No

Is SEC basketball as good as ACC basketball? No

What's the big deal?

RE: ESPN commitment to the ACC?
The ACC's reputation will rise or fall on one day this year - September 20th.

On 9/20 the following play:

UNC/ECU
UVA/BYU
Miami/Neb
Pitt/Iowa
Syr/MD

The second big date is 8/30, however, if Clemson plays UGA a close game nothing changes regarding conference perception. If UCLA stomps a mud hole in UVa - the same. FSU will beat Ok State.

Clemson-UGA
FSU-Ok State
UVa-UCLA

This is why the 9/20 matter. UNC has to not choke to ECU, nor Syracuse to MD. Miami needs to beat Nebraksa. Pitt and UVa need to play solid games against Iowa and BYU. This is all that can be done until the end of the year and hopefully this year Clemson will not allow Spurier to get into their minds, and hopefully GT will not piss away another game against UGA.

Nothing that NC State, Wake, or BC does this year really matters. Louisville will spend the year being identified as a former Big East/AAC team.

Now question - do you negotiate for highest amount or much lower with guarantee of certain time and coverage

I think acc is playing the good corporate partner with Disney to get flexibility on other things.

Oh, I dunno - BC can matter on 9/13/14 maybe! (USC @ BC). Question is, WILL they?

On 9/13 the game that matters is Duke/Kansas. BC doesn't have a hope in hell, but that's okay. State also needs to beat South Florida on that day, otherwise any future upset that State pulls will become a stinker for the league. At least we have a qb this year, or we are told we do.

VT's game with Ohio State on 9/6 could be big, but it's been years since VT had a real QB and the Hokies will need at least 24 points to win this game.

Yeah, but if VT and BC can both pull off upsets on 9/13... their game against each other looks a lot better all of a sudden! (just sayin')

I think BC has a chance against USC. USC is not what thgey used to be and Addazio can actually coach. That will be a good game.

Yep, Louisville is 10-5 vs the SEC this century. Granted nearly all against UK, but the Cards took the big stage when they had it and whipped a top 5 SEC opponent up and down the field in a BCS game when they had a chance as well.

It has taken many decades, but I have finally been cured of such fits of optimism.
