What if the U.S. reshuffled like athletic conferences did?
What states would make up the "Big 5" conferences?

What states would be left behind in the shift and forced to join Mexico, Canada, or become a territory?

The linked story on what ten states pull their weight the least caused me to have this thought. 10 "sun-belt" states

I love how they chose a picture of the Causeway to represent Louisiana.

One thing I've noticed about people in "red" states is that they don't consider it "government excess" if it shoots bullets or helps their grandma. They do tend to freak out if you shoot bullets _at_ their grandmas... recall the whole "death panel" kerfuffle.
