126. UAB
Starter/backup: Cody Clements/Jeremiah Briscoe
Buzz: Clements signed with Washington State out of high school in California, but never played and ended up at a junior college. He had an OK spring. Briscoe is a redshirt freshman.

They're clearly accounting for variables beyond the quarterbacks themselves. How are two untested guys any better or worse than any other two untested guys?

They clearly took no time to consider or look into the situation at Uab. I am as hard on the football team as anybody, but whoever our qb is has some great targets to throw at. I'll worry about our qb play when we have a defense that doesn't give up 700 yards and 50 points a game.

We have had some incredible athletes at QB, but I would be hesitant to give us the benefit of the doubt considering our football history in general. Webb and Hackney had some years of play with them when they began to garner national attention. Untested QBs, like the program as a whole, should be given nothing until that respect is earned. After the next season we can re-evaluate our QB situation. We should be recruiting QBs better than the bottom 10 because of our WR corps and our city and university as a whole, but to make any judgement right now is typical premature pre-season banter.
