I'm pretty sure average below 20k now than over it.

The actual number doesn't matter to me as much as % of stadium capacity.

ODU for example only holds right at 20,000, but I'm pretty sure 20,000 is actually a bit over official capacity.

Their games will look great on television despite only averaging 20,000.

Correct 20k at a 25k stadium looks a lot better than 25k at a 35 to 40k seat stadium. Plus it gets a lot louder at the smaller stadium...

I was told by a few of visiting fans from SBC schools that The Houch (Western's stadium) was the loudest place in the SBC. I've been to a lot of games at 70 to 100k stadiums and never heard anything louder for the last 8 minutes of the WKU vs ULM game year before last...

Wouldn't it have been cool though for the California Golden Bears to play that game at Tech's home field? I can just imagine that group from Berkeley stepping off the bus in Ruston.03-lmfao

That Cal game was a great game. Check out the 8:50 mark for one of the greatest play calls ever:

Jesus, was there ever a receiver more wide open than that guy? Great win Tech.04-cheers

That's a pretty solid slate of games Tech played with Miami, Cal, etc. They're not getting any returns for those Virginias and Illinois' they've played recently?

On another topic, which premier institutions did the Belt lose?

And finally, speaking of LaTech, I was dumbfounded when I learned that Tech had never sold out its stadium, even during the 2012 season when late in the year you guys played at home ranked #19 in the nation. What's up with that?

Our Texas A&M game in 2012 was a home game that was played in Independence Stadium in Shreveport in front of 44,000 fans. Johnny Football and A&M beat us by two points, but it was a heck of a game. The 2010 Tech/Grambling game drew 40,000 in Shreveport. Both of those games would have easily been sellouts in Ruston. Through the years, we've chosen to play the likes of A&M, Baylor, California, OK St, Miami, as well as Grambling and others in Shreveport because Independence Stadium seats close to 50K as opposed to our stadium which seats 31K. Is the concept of playing in a larger stadium in order to play in front of MORE fans too complicated for you to understand?

On another of the points you brought up, La Tech did in fact rise to a ranking of #19 in 2012. It's fun seeing your logo roll across the screen every time the Top 25 scores are updated, don't you think? Oh, uh..., I mean you guys at UL-L really ought to give it a try some day. Perhaps you will once that Big 12 invite that you all are expecting comes through for you.

As far as what premier institutions left the Sun Belt, you and every other UL-L fan knows EXACTLY who it was that left UL-L behind. The sad thing for you is that it likely isn't over. At least one, and maybe two more Sun Belt members will leapfrog over UL-L before realignment ends. The good news for you is that you guys should be getting used to that by now.

And here are some specifics. La Tech played, in Shreveport, the Baylor Bears in 1996, The California Bears in 1997, Texas A&M in 1999 and 2012, Okla State in 2002, and Miami in 2003. The Grambling game, 2010, was a GRAMBLING home game as they sponsored the Port City Classic and invited Tech as a visiting team. The A&M game in 2012 ended a 9yr drought of biggies in Shreveport so if they are moving all their big home games to Shreveport then they don't have many big home games.

What big home games have we played in Ruston other than the MSU game?

MSU is the only big (bcs) home game ever played in Dogpatch and the above six are the only ones in Sheveport but not moved there for attendance but those teams would not go to Dogpatch. Looks like you have had about seven "home" games in your history that would be considered big time game.

Okay 07-coffee3

Boise, Hawaii, and Fresno were all ranked at times they visited Ruston back when we played in the WAC. I recall beating Fresno in Ruston and knocking them out of the rankings, and we missed a two point conversion as time expired that would have given us a win against Hawaii the year they played in the Sugar Bowl. I'm pretty sure Houston was ranked the last time we played them in Ruston as well. Hopefully, many ranked CUSA teams will be visiting Ruston in the near future.

CUSA doesn't have much outside the projected top 4 (although I think FAU has the pieces to be a good team too) and the SBC really doesn't have much this year outside their top two. USA and Troy will probably be decent, but Idaho, Georgia State, and NMSU are just terrible.

App State had a pretty poor season last year, I'd be shocked to see them move up a level and rebound from the disaster that was last season. GaSo has a new coach on top of moving up a level, so things could be rocky for them this season too.

I had to look twice before I realized that yes, for sure, the poster is a Charlotte 49'er expounding on the subject of terrible football.

Oh, well we didn't know we'd have an expert on the topic stopping by.

Take a look at Charlotte's record last year. LOL.

They are definitely the new experts. Once NC Central starts handing you your backside you are have reached Hall of Champions of suck. And hey I am not the one calling teams out as "terrible". Once you do that, Game On. Glad we have them on the schedule in '15. 05-mafia
I heard we canceled that game to play UK btw. The UK game hasn't been formally announced yet (but it has been confirmed internally).

You have quite a bit of confidence for a fan of a team that didn't win a game last year. You got worked over hard by several FCS schools, yet it was your third year and you were supposedly FBS.

Let me know if you break actual 5,000 fans at your first game this year.

You'll win 2 games this year, max. If you lose to NMSU, 1 win will be a successful season for Ga. State.

According to Phil Stukenborg of the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Marshall is predicted by several preseason sources to earn the Access Bowl spot reserved for the G5 conference teams.

I thought the discussion concerned BCS teams and games in shreveports larger stadium. Your stadium has never been sold out even with teams like Fresno or others who might have been ranked at the time.
