Rugby is exclusively European according to our most informed member.

If I was standing across from the All Blacks when they did the Haka, I'd probably sh!t my pants.

Overrated IMO. Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga all have a war dance.

I loved in the world cup in south africa where they did the dance in the final, and the south african team just stared at them. I could see how once it was intimidating, but if I was an international rugby player playing against them Id probably just roll my eye and continue with my warm ups.

Played lacrosse in HS. Far superior to soccer.

Most games are superior to soccer. I would say soccer is third tier at best.

Box Lax is pretty popular in QC. We played it in PE during the winter. It was fun, as I'm sure field lax is as well, but not very fun to watch IMO. I don't think lax has as good of athletes as it should have. If you look at NCAA lax teams they are filled with kids from (Insert name here) academy. They are usually big, bruising guys, but there is no "skill", just a lot of fundamental players.

It's like basketball before Wilt or baseball in the dead ball era. The powers that be really want to keep it that way.

Well for a lot of people the level of violence directly correlates to their interest in a sport

They had LAX at my high school, but it was mainly the rich kids. Is it still a pretty expensive sport to get into? I know that they've asked my daughter to play and offered to buy the equipment, but she just wasn't interested.

I had to buy the gloves and a stick. Probably about $150. Everything else was provided.

Uhh, that's real expensive compared to school football (free), soccer (free), basketball (free).

Nothing is free. Football is a lot more expensive than any of the others. The implication was you have to be rich to play lacrosse. Being able to shell out $150 does not make one rich.

But you have admitted to growing up rich.

Attending high school in the triangle of NC, the schools that had it were Cardinal Gibbons, Needham Broughton, Kerr Vance Academy, Cary Academy, Ravenscroft, and all of the Chapel Hill schools. It was, at the time, very much a rich kids sport. Now, it is changing, but the powers that be in the sport know that it is a sport for kids of means and want to keep it that way.

Football and basketball pay for themselves.

How do you define rich? I don't think I grew up rich. Maybe upper-middle class. We were comfortable, but definitely on the lower side at private school. Most of my friends dads probably made 5-10X mine and even they weren't what someone in a large city would consider rich. It's all relative. We were probably in the top 15%-20% in our town, but the top 5% in our town were for the most part doctors, not multimillionaires that owned or ran large companies or hedge funds.
