The & is held dear by many alums. I find this type on our skin sacrilege, even though it is technically a form of the symbol. I'm guessing that the font was chosen based on its similar script to the Tribe athletic logo, but I just don't know.

Also, I feel like we should try to get some feathers in there somehow...

Agree, I just don't care for it at all other than the colors.

The script looks elementary, like those alphabet strips for penmanship they used to post above grade school blackboards.

And feathers - yes - something Native American. That's also part of W&M's heritage.

Shoot the admin a message. I shot him one the other day asking if he could get the skin going since people were starting to wander and he responded pretty quick.

The trouble with picking a font is that all the Native American ones I find are more of the New Mexico pueblo style Indian stuffs. The original W&M logo with feather is block collegiate style font ... and has no connection what-so-ever to Indians. Totally incongruent with the feather behind it.

I can switch to block collegiate style font if you want ... but to me it doesn't make any more sense.

How about using a Tribe logo like the Dukes have on their forum followed by "Talk?"

So in general ... here's the fair use rules:

1) You can use the name.
2) You can use the logo.

You can't use both at the same time.


Also, I'm afraid I'm terrible at graphics. I'll run this up the flagpole to see if somebody more talented can help.

Think you can help with the logo for this board? Read above here for suggestions. A few rules:

1) You can use the W&M name ... or the logo ... but not both. And I'd prefer your use of either to be artistically involved (e.g. not the full thing) like on the JMU board: http://jmu.csnbbs.com

2) You grant Galt's Gulch Industries, LLC a perpetual, royalty free, restriction free use of any work you submit on this thread. I do have some ways of rewarding those who submit stuff I use though. :)

For selfish reasons, and if there are no objections, I was wondering if the administrator could sticky or make a dedicated subsection for the various recruiting threads? Especially for basketball and football. We could also do one for baseball If the interest is there. It could be a general "Basketball Recruiting" thread or we could make it more specific to 2015.

I like that idea. I'm sure that they'll probably appoint a moderator who can do that kind of thing, at some point, right?

Well, I was bored and had a couple of minutes to spare and worked up a nice little logo. Problem I'm having is no image files whether gifs or jpgs will upload for
me.

Error message was "The file upload failed. Please choose a valid file and try again. Error details: There was a problem moving the uploaded file to its destination."

I have no idea why. File is small and a gif. I also got the same message when trying to change my avi. Am I doing something wrong, or is something turned off allowing picture uploads? I never had a problem uploading pics on the Zone, so I thought I knew what I was doing.

The inconsistency has annoyed us all at times. Our football helmets are closer to the brown-gold and the feathers and basketball court are more of a yellow-gold. Also, IIRC, silver is one of our colors and we never use it.

There's been a concerted push in recent years to go towards the brown gold on merchandise and such.
