Sounds like he's heard a rumor Skal may be leaning to Memphis. They suddenly become a lower rated prospect once they lean that way. It's like he couldn't possibly be that good if he's going to Memphis. Did his skills diminish just all of a sudden? Did he instantly become overrated? Ridiculous. If he was elite a month go he still is.

They are? Seriously?

Admittedly I've only seen a few YouTube clips, but I wasn't super impressed either. It's just an opinion. Don't let it bother you if you feel different.

He seems slow and not very explosive. I'm also not a fan of big men who like to shoot threes. I saw that a few times in the video footage.

2 years ago, I thought Skal was going to be the next Anthony Davis. Now, I don't think he'll be better than Robert Dozier. That's not a knock on Dozier, he was fantastic, but he wasn't the top 10 talent that some project Skal to be. I've seen a lot of local D2 high school ball in the last few years. I'd rate Nichols above Skal. But of course, my most recent memories of Austin in h.s. are of him as a senior, so maybe not a fair comparison yet to Skal since he hasn't played his sr. season yet.

Using local D2 products as a barometer…..I see Skal's future success close to that of Leslie McDonald. A level below Nichols and E-Will. A level above Farrakahn and Lawrence Bowers.

Kentucky wouldn't be still recruiting Skal if he wasn't good enough the last two posters are talking crazy

He said he had never been as high on Skal as most other people. Even mentioned that most had him in the top 20 and even top 10 while he felt he was closer to a top 50 type talent. Also, he had nothing but great things to say about the Lawsons, Fisher and that big dude from Chattanooga named Ado(?), so it didn't seem like he was downgrading these kid's imaginary rankings due to a supposed lean/interest in Memphis.

I saw Skal pretty much eat Austin alive at a Briarcrest home game when AN was a Senior and SL was a sophomore.

I took a 5 star one tonight, some would consider it a four star, but everyone has it on their radar.

I agree, but it is rare IMO. I remember seeing Derrick Rose play during Madness and even I could tell he was special. Hardaway impressed me similarly during the DePaul game many years ago. They were supernovas shining bright.

Unfortunately, lately, most of our recruits have been overrated. Aside from DJ I can't think of one that has met or exceeded their ranking.
