I don't think anyone is suggesting that. However, there is quite a bit of evidence that indicates they do indeed exist.

You don't need to look too far. There's a few instances of demon exorcism in the Bible. Remember the one where Jesus exorcised the demons and they entered the pigs?

Thing is, "sociopath", "schitzophrenic" etc. are just cute names for different forms of possession.

Why not focus your theory of spirits on sightings of angelic spirits? Oh, that's right. Nobody's ever seen one.

Here's the thing: I think human's are capable of evil with nothing supernatural afoot. This guy may have a chemical/electrical imbalance somewhere in his brain, or he could just be mean as hell (no pun intended). I think either of those make more sense than demon possession, because I know people have damaged brains, and I know people can be mean as hell.

What I don't KNOW is this dude is possessed. Going off and doing something awful is not evidence of it. With all due respect, I'm going to need something more definitive than, "you don't know it's not true, do you?".

I've seen things I didn't have a ready explanation for, but that doesn't make them ghosts.

Smaug, you are probably the most sane, reasonable regular poster on this board, conservative or liberal. And I thank you for it because it makes me remember that not everyone (conservative or liberal) is crazy. Cheers to you sir.

I'm not poo pooing the idea that the reason for this event is supernatural, per se. I just don't see evidence of it here. I figure I'm like most people, remaining a skeptic, neither believing nor disbelieving, unless something like that has happened to you.

Meantime, it's a lot more believable to me that a brain tumor put Charles Whitman at the top of the Texas clock tower with a gun in his hand, than Satan did it.

This is absurd. There is no "evidence" of demonic spirits in any way. I'm actually amazed this made it 7 pages.

It gets used as a legal defense occasionally, but I doubt it has much of a track record of success.
