Why Is It
that when I was growing up during the Reagan, Clinton and Bush years, It wasn't common to see a vagrant or homeless person away from the downtown OKC area. But in the last 6 years under Obama they have now become a common site on just about every major street corner?

Coincidence? I think not.

george w. bush's fault. he was in OKC once, and he set in motion this obvious series of events that culminated in rampant homelessness.

W also seeded the clouds causing huge storms to destroy homes and cities. Flooded New Orleans and ran the homeless out of Louisiana to dryer ground now he's brought back Godzilla destroying NYC so all these millions of displaced millions descend to the heartland where now President Obama forced them out of shelters to make room for His Newest pals the illegals coming across the border. Sounds good anyway. Lol!

RE: Why Is It
So any serious answers to why so many people are homeless and out of work under the Obama administration? The problem is definitely not confined to OKC. OKC is just a stop for these people who travel around the country with no place to call home.

Many of them are on drugs and live in the woods

RE: Why Is It
The vagrants I've seen have been there since the Bush Administration.

Construction may have as much to do with why you'd see a change as anything. Drugs and run-of-the-mill dementia have probably been the biggest factors in vagrancy since the 70s. But, I'd have to see statistics to really show whether the problem has increased in the past 10 years or not...

Homelessness and hunger are spreading across America
Last year's national poverty rate of 15 percent hovered near the Great Recession’s staggering record of 15 percent, according to the Census Bureau. Although the US stock market has surpassed its pre-recession high, poor residents of some major American cities have not gained from the country's economic wins, the new report has shown. The number of people in the poverty trap went up from 46.2 million in 2011 to 46.5 million in 2012. These figures remained slightly changed from 2010 when the number of poor people reached the highest level in the more than half-century that poverty estimates have been published. The poverty rate in 2012 was 2.5 percentage points higher than that reported in 2007, the year before the economic recession.

If the minimum wage doesn't change, and costs go up a little over time, that could explain a gradual increase in poverty.
