Black Americans: The True Casualties of Amnesty
Quote:One of the sleeper issues surrounding the debate on amnesty for illegal immigrants – an inconvenient one that no proponent of a widespread amnesty wishes to acknowledge – is the devastating effect so-called immigration reform will have on African Americans.

The black unemployment rate is almost 11 percent, far higher than that of any other group profiled by labor statistics. African Americans are disproportionately employed in lower-skilled jobs – the very same jobs immigrants take. As Steven Camarota asked in a recent column, why double immigration when so many people already aren’t working?

Who will be harmed most by amnesty? African-Americans.

If there was ever a time to preach the failed Liberal policies and the negative effects they have had on the African Americans, IT IS NOW.

agreed. The narrative needs to be that this is the DNC and not just Obama.

It is clear that Obama is an Uncle Tom... then again, who didn't see that coming? What does a man raised in Indonesia and Hawaii know about the plights of black America?

I wouldn't go that far. It's just that outside of a 'blame the man' philosophy, what concrete policies does the DNC have in their toolbag to actually help black people? Identity politics don't create jobs.

But the DNC does get a lot of money into the pockets of leaders and community organizers. Unfortunately, those leaders are too often Kwame Kilpatrick, William Jefferson, Jesse Jackson, and Ray Nagin types. The "leaders" do a great job of unifying the people and steal a lot of money in the process, but need their people to stay in the hood to keep their power. Around here, I am amazed at how many middle class blacks with decent jobs still live in the worst neighborhoods in the city.

What you have to realize is that middle class blacks live in bad neighborhoods because they believe its important for them and their children to remain connected to the black community. The only way you can get that type of density in a city is if you are near/in where low income blacks reside. There just aren't enough middle/upper middle class blacks in a single area to accomplish the same thing.

Unless you are a member of Congressional Black Caucus.

I thought about adding my 2 cents, but I don't want to offend anyone. :)
