RE: SMU makes gameday changes
I hear ya... going to the Charlotte games with no beer is such an inconvenience - you have to do all your drinking at the tailgate early and people get blitzed by game time and are ready to leave by halftime. The people I go to the Panther games with, don't go to the 49ers because there is no beer and no shade at the games.

Lots of people show up to the tailgate. The problem is they don't leave.

I wish we sold beer. In addition to the additional revenue it would generate, I think it would reduce the amount of binge drinking going on in the tailgating areas. Drunken fools are going to be drunken fools whether it's for sale inside the stadium or not, so I don't really see any negatives.

It probably would. We have been selling beer at football and bball games forever and I rarely see fans out of control or too drunk.

I'd say it has less to do with the alcohol, and more to do with the type of people that are from West Virginia in general.

From the Dallas Morning News

Shirley Miller, North Dallas: When a couple of drunks get into a fight and wind up shooting each other in the bleachers, maybe SMU will get an idea of what they have done. Maybe they can send to Colorado for some marijuana and sell it at halftime.

There was one year during the BK era they were out of control. This prompted UC to
move the home side to the East side and keep visiting fan bases tucked into the lower corner on the West Side. One year during the CUSA days a bunch of them showed up.

Someone tell Shirley that up here we also sell beer, and gamble at church festivals, lol.
Gotta duck those bullets though.

This is the type of ish we have to deal with as SMU fans. The old blue-hairs that have had the run of the stadium for years and don't want youngsters messing up their "church-like" silence.

Our fans actually get mad at you for standing up, cheering loudly..and now, drinking a beer.

I swear I hate my fellow alums sometimes.

I would love to stick a student section behind the opposing team's bench in basketball, like SMU did, but the Red Sweater crowd would be pissed if they lost their seats.

The kind of people who would fight at a football game are the same people who sneak in their own alcohol.
