RE: Coaches on the "Hot Seat"!
That just shows the writer didn't check his facts. Holgorsen is going nowhere. If WVU fires him, he'll still be owed $8.6 million on his buyout. After paying the Big East $20 million to exit early, WVU doesn't have the available funds to pay one group of coaches millions not to work, while paying another group of coaches millions more to coach. It's simple economics, which most sports fans haven't a clue about.

RE: Coaches on the "Hot Seat"!
People in Lawrence aren't doing cartwheels about Charlie, but after the rapid dismissal of Turner Gill, I think the AD would be leery of dismissing another coach quickly and get a reputation among coaching and playing prospects that it's a revolving door. If new OC John Reagan manages to turn the offense around, he may well move up a rung with Charlie moving on to take a final NFL assistant's job before hanging it up altogether.

I do not know anything about all that. I am listing this for you to see. They have Bobby Petrino at #20 and he certainly has nothing to worry about Louisville. It is just an opinion list. 04-cheers

All lists are nothing more than opinion, Wilkie. But that's human nature for you. Everyone wants to put things in the appropriate box, even if they don't fit.

Your other thread was better for that. 04-cheers

Unfortunately, we obviously haven't been able to get much going here. At one point I tried linking over here from a KU board, but nobody followed - which is just as well, because that board has really gone down the tubes. There's a small core of really good posters on this overall site, and I'd love to pull a few more such people over, particularly from other Big 12 fanbases that haven't been represented.

RE: Coaches on the "Hot Seat"!
WVU's scout board has descended into a bickering black hole of animosity. There are those who root for the team, and those who seem to be rooting for Holgorsen and Huggins to fall flat, making it look bad for Ollie. They want WVU to go back to the days of the Big East or Southern Conference, which is ludicrous. They blame Luck for the ACC and SEC not wanting the Mountaineers. People can be so stupid, and they revel in their stupidity, it seems.

The worst thing that can happen is for the fan base to be split. 07-coffee3

RE: Coaches on the "Hot Seat"!
It is a confusing time. Are we playing to our potential? Is it due to the head coach? Is it just us accumulating to a tougher conference? I'm not that worried about us in basketball, however football....I don't know what our problem really is. It seems that we are recruiting at the same, maybe even slightly better, level then we did in the Big East. I'm content to ride out the length of Dana's contract and see if he can straighten the ship in the next few years. I'm not really sure off the top of my head how many years is left on his contract...3 or 4 years maybe?

I think the biggest part of it is that some folks want to blame Oliver Luck for the fact that WVU lost all their rivals, despite the fact that he had absolutely no control over it. WVU probably wouldn't have been invited to the ACC if Louisville had gotten the B12 bid over the Mountaineers. IMO the ACC would most likely have picked UConn, since they value basketball above all, and would make a stronger presence in NYC. But try telling that to those who are convinced otherwise.

Start winning because many in the SEC are talking about adding Louisville and West Virginia as #15 and #16. I think the talk is BS given we both signed GORs. 07-coffee3

It is BS, Wilkie. I've heard otherwise from somebody at UT who's in the know about such things.

It was Mr. SEC where I read it. If it was the "Dude" from your West Virginia board, I would not believe a word that he says. 07-coffee3

RE: Coaches on the "Hot Seat"!
My wife is retired from the University of Tennessee, and the current university president is a supporter of the Society for Universal Dialogue, of which the Knoxville Turkish Cultural Society is a member. So I see him a good bit.

Also, my wife's cousin is married to former WVU OL coach Dave Johnson, who's now the TE coach at Tennessee. I'm trying to wangle a sideline pass right now. So you may get to see me on the sideline during a Tennessee game this season. Look for a WV cap on the sidelines, if you watch any of Tennessee's games.
