Went to that one with Rath as well. Thought we were going to get jumped by the cast of the Jersey Shore on the shuttle ride back to the RAC parking lot from the stadium.

I pretty much hate Rutgers because of their fan base and how they left the conference, but UC has pretty much widespread respect over on their boards...

RE: Cincy @ Rutgers 2007
The best Rutgers game for me (beside for 2006) was when we blew them out in 2009. Our game was the season opener and it was the first game in their renovated stadium. Many of the prognosticators had picked Rutgers to finish near the top of the conference (and as usual in those days we were in the second tier of the conference preseason). Many of us wringing our hands on these boards because we didn't like playing a decent opponent to open the season without an FCS first (hmm... sounds familiar). We walked into Piscataway and slapped the taste out of their mouth 47-15.

The 2007 game was great as well. This was the game where Ben Mauk mocked Rutgers slogan of "chopping wood" on the sidelines. I have watched clips of our 2007 team several times. I contend the 2007 Bearcats might have been better than the 2008 Bearcats (despite the 2008 squad winning the conference outright). The defense was much more stout in 2007 and Ben Mauk was a force at QB. The 2007 squad dropped two WTF games against bad Loiusville and Pitt teams. A lot of that was due to the fact it was BK's first year.

That's what happens when Cincy beat Rutgers in every important game between the two in the Big East. 2006 is still tough to swallow.

Thank's for coming over RuChris.

UC beat pretty much everybody but WVU on a consistent basis in the Big East yet all of schools continue to act as if UC was garbarge on their boards. UC took 8/9 from Syracuse this past decade, have an 8-2 edge on UConn, took the last four from Pitt, haven beaten USF 7 out of 10 times and we even took four in a row from Louisville before losing the last two in OT. Rutgers fans give UC fans respect and I can dig it.

Bad turnovers cost us in both of those losses. We had 2 guys get stripped after ripping off 30 yard plus plays (Greg Moore or Benton). Against Pitt Goody took a nice shot and fumbled a ball down by the goal line. BK also did not start 2 defensive guys for breaking team rules.

Howdy Chris, find any good Big Ten conference boards? Good luck next year. You guys have a tough schedule. @WSU first week is tough. That stretch from Oct into Nov is tough.

I remember feeling cheated in the 07 Pitt game. There was an obvious turnover by Pitt, that was reviewed and overturned in Pitts favor. Louisville had many talented players but Kragthorpe screwed the pooch for many of their games.

We asked someone after the game if they had any suggestions for a bar to head to. We were told, "Wearing that ****? Nowhere."

My favorite fans from the Big East days were the Mountaineers. They acted as if we had NEVER beaten them. In fact, they acted like we never one a game in that conference. It's hilarious how delusional they were/ still are.

Oh, I dunno... For my money, the worst fans in the old Big East were the Pitt Panther fans. They always acted like UC didn't belong on the same field with them and I think that they would vigorously block UC's entry into the ACC. All this for a program that hadn't accomplished anything substantial since the late 1970's...

It's funny because Cincy-Pitt had all the potential to have been a really good rivalry.

It was always special when the Mountaineers swarmed to the Nip. The
pungent aroma cocktail of whiskey, tobacco, pot, bad breath and body odor announced their arrival.
The visuals were priceless. Facial hair trimmed by a dull knife, hunting wear stained by the blood of possum and raccoon, and that was just the women folk.

Agreed. Pitt fans see themselves as Harvard in the classroom and Notre Dame in football. While they have a storied history on the gridiron their program is nowhere elite. Their football attendence was often worse than ours, although they did have the benefit of having a large crowd for the WVU or Notre Dame games which kept the average up.

UC and Pitt could have been a good rivalry. The two schools actually have a lot in common. I think our university is very similar to theirs in terms of strong academic research anchored by a top flight med school. Both schools have huge endowments and are located in a similar part of town. Both schools are in cities with professional sports and are overshadowed in their state by a large land grant school. Pitt has great football tradition and UC has great basketball tradition.

HAHA. I remember in 2007 sitting behind a couple of WVU fans who were BF/GF. Both were three sheets to the wind. At various points in the game the girl would get excited, stand up and shove her boyfriend in the chest and say something like "Hey Baby! We just got us a TD!" They would then sloppily make out and grope one another. I happened to have been sitting next to a classy WVU lady who was in her 50's. She would repeatedly apologize on behalf of the entire state of West Virginia throughout the game.

I also remember seeing a couple of them puking out in the concourses. Classy folks.

RE: Cincy @ Rutgers 2007
It may have been the same WVU game but we had a group of UC folks with us at Nippert that night and the vomit came running like a small stream around our shoes from a Mountaineer down the row who passed out shortly thereafter and was treated by the EMTs. His friends were just slightly less drunk. For the first Big East game against WVU at Nippert I figured their fans didn't know we had beer sales and all got well oiled on moonshine before they entered. When they walked in and gazed upon our beer stands they suddenly thought, "almost heaven...West Virginia," and proceeded to refuel. Of course that doesn't explain their behavior in subsequent games.

Not really. Hopefully this site's B1G board will heat up once football season starts. I prefer talking with other team's fans on conference boards as opposed to rivals/scout.

I think Rutgers may be in for a horror show this year. If it expedites the exit of Flood, that will be somewhat of a consolation. I'm not expecting more than 5 wins.
