Mark Berman ‏@MarkBermanFox26 · 21m
Sources: Univ. of Houston's naming-rights deal for new football stadium w/Texas Dow Employees Credit Union worth $15 million over 10 years.

More importantly, it is the largest for a college football stadium ever.

Perhaps the same mind set could be placed to the basketball facility in the near future as well.

RE: It's Official...UH Sells Stadium Naming Rights
Reports are surfacing on twitter that there is an option to extend the naming rights agreement for five additional years. I assume it's for the same $1.5M/year payment, but I am trying to confirm.

So this could turn out to be a 15-year, $22.5M deal.

Congrats Coogs (and Tulane). There's nothing better than an on-campus football stadium. It was an atmosphere game changer for us at UCF.

Lights coming on for the first time last night. Stadium naming 'offical' announcement today for 15 million for 10 years, and that incredible downtown view. I can't wait for the first game.04-cheers

Some of the construction workers. They had some delays with a legal matter and some weather-related setbacks.

The university isn't sinking 100K for that week of events leading up to the first home game for it not to be finished. RK doesn't play around. The schedule all along has planned for it to go into overdrive starting in July. Whatever you're "hearing" is nothing more than water cooler talk....

Now that A&M stadium, good luck and god speed to them to be done in 51 days.

The suicide at the construction site and weather delays won't push the opening date back.

I hope you're right but they don't seem so optimistic. I'll be there (if I don't have to work) if they do.

I just do not see the admin letting anyone "Coog It" on the stadium opening. It might just be for show, but...

"At Tuesday’s naming-rights announcement, Mack Rhoades, UH’s vice president for intercollegiate athletics, said the stadium remains on schedule. The next milestone will be the installation of the artificial surface within the next week."

The old stadium was on campus. The new stadium is being built on the same footprint of the old one (except it will have a east-west configuration), it's a brand spanking new stadium. Old one had outlived its usefulness.

RE: It's Official...UH Sells Stadium Naming Rights
We are not behind. Pulled this from our site:

BUILDING THE BASE
While every project is customized, here are the 4 key stages to building the perfect base along with the typical timeframes:
Field Excavation to Subgrade (6 Days)
Install Perimeter Concrete Curb/Nailer (6 Days)
Install Geotextile Fabric and Field Underdrain System (6 Days)
Install Free Draining Base Stone and Finish Stone (8 Days)

TURF INSTALLATION
Next up is the turf installation. In less than 30 days you’ll go from an empty base to a lush playing field. Here’s how we do it.
Off-load Turf Rolls and Place Turf (3 Days)
Sew Turf Panels (8 Days)
Install Field Markings and Decorative Markings (8 Days)
Install Infill (5 Days)
Remove Construction Entrance/Clean Up/Demobilize/Test Field (3 Days)

We are wrapping up the "Building the Base" phase in the next few days. So in 27 days (say 30 for arguments sake) we will have the field ready. The rest of the stadium is coming along nicely. We will be done by the open house on 8/24 much less the opening game on 8/29.

There will be no issue with opening up on time.
