Assistant Boy Scout leader charged with child sex abuse

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said Thomas Seifert, 57, is now facing 10 additional counts of felony child sexual abuse while in a custodial role. He was previously charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a child by a person in custodial or supervisory relationship.
The charges stem from incidents that reportedly happened over the course of four to five years involving two teenage boys. Deputies say the incidents happened at Seifert’s home as well as the Edgehill Pool, where he volunteered and managed the snack bar for the last five years.
According to the sheriff’s office, Seifert has been around numerous juveniles through his affiliation with several organizations, and he has also served as an Assistant Troop Leader with the Boy Scouts for several years.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending, the sheriff’s office said.
This is at least the 3rd such local story involving the scouts in the last year. Time to shut them down, it is no longer about family and parental volunteerism. Now they have full-time, childless perverts running the show.

Peds have been a part of boy scouts, little league, actually any place where kids are placed in a position where adults have a position of trust and responsibility over them. Nothing new here, we just talk much more openly about it now. That is a good thing. Victims are more willing to report what has been going on for a long, long time.
Trust me, my liberal attitude does not extend to pedophilia.

I was an eagle scout and i believe it taught me valuable lessons that have helped me throughout my life so far. I believe scouts in general teaches very good lessons and skills that kids would otherwise not learn such basics such as wilderness survival to reading a map and compass.
the "title" of assistant scout leader is ridiculous" basically any parent that shows up and has a role in anything is considered and assistant scout leader.
Just like anything a few bad apple does not determine the worth of the orchard.

I don't know about that. in My troop i can't remember if there were any childless parent. I must have missed that part. I don't know those rules or regulations although that does seem like it should have thrown up a red flag.

Yeah, that's definitely a red-flag in my opinion. Nasty.
We had a childless teacher (older male) volunteer to be the coed swim coach in HS. He was always the "cool guy" around the kids. I think something similar followed suit. Although it could've been for handing out prescribed medicine...can't remember.
