A really small bit of the entire post. The guy must have spent a month on this >>>
2014-15, 39-team, five-factor "analysis".
(You're gonna hafta put-up with a lot of explanations, in this post. Sorry.)
The five factors (for each team) are: 1) # of 4-star and/or-5-star players (per"Rivals"**[.com]); 2) those players' years of "experience"; 3) each team's recently-lost players; 4) percent of "team scoring" recently lost; 5) (a few of) each team's, recent "'quality' wins"(from last season).
(All players on all teams [listed below] should be assumed to be eligible this-coming season, unless otherwise noted.)
****************************************
Current # of eligible-this-season, "Rivals(.com)"**, 4-star and/or 5-star players:
11: Louisville
10: Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, Unc
9: Arizona
8: Florida, Ohio St., Memphis
7: Villanova, Texas, G-Town
6: Virginia, Iowa St., Marquette, Syracuse, missouri, ucla
5: Smu, UNLV, Michigan,Stanford, Indiana, Lsu, Uconn
4: Mich. St., Okla. St., FSU, Baylor, San Diego St., Xavier
3: Gonzaga, Arkansas, Colorado
2: Wisconsin, Tennessee, Pitt
1: Nebraska
0: Wichita St....
9) Memphis
5-star (1): nichols (so)
4-star (7): goodwin (jr), m. Crawford (so), iverson (so), king (so), powell (so), woodson (so), magee (fr)
EIGHT "Rivals" four-or-five-star players, among those, one junior, six sophomores, one freshman.
Ps, last year, they had two 5-stars and eight 4-stars ( = ten, total, 4-or-5-stars) and lost in the round of 32. Last year, prior to their five wins against Top-25 teams (including wins over Louisville [x2], SMU, Gonzaga, and Okla St...and two close losses to Uconn...so, a very respectable year, last year...but, with that kinda talent, they sure should've had), Memphis had gone four years without a single, Top-25 win. Although this year's team is young and they lost their leaders, maybe the remaining, talented group has learned how to win.
Lost: Jackson, c. crawford, johnson, dixon, pellom, draper
Lost 62.3% of their scoring.
quality wins: louisville 2xs, smu, okla st, gonzaga, Lsu..
