I was actually thinking that you should ask for the kidney back.

Many people (young and old) die each year waiting on a transplant ... we all can help someone live 1, 5, 10...50 years by donating our organs after we no longer need them.

Sign the back of your drivers license and make sure your family knows your wishes. I've had 3 close friends to get a transplant (heart, liver, kidney) and each would have died if not for someone giving the gift of life to them. One got 5 extra years watching his kids grow up and and probably lived 50 years of living in those 5. The other two are still alive with their families because a couple grieving families made the decision to help give life to strangers
