Harsin stepped into a difficult situation at A-State. Both Hugh and Gus got to lean on Ryan Alpin at QB.

I sure as heck don't understand your reasoning.
stAte had more depth and better overall players than us. Their talent cupboard was not as bare as ours has been the last few years.
Fuente had our boys ready to go for that game.

RE: Boise State and AAC settle on 2.3 M exit fee
that 100 million dollar "war chest" is why the AAC was able to take a low money/high exposure deal from ESPN...the AAC has 4-5 years to prove it's worth to ESPN...and year 1 was most impressive.

distribution should be solid next season as well...

these are numbers from the AAC board:
2014-15 Revenue

Football Playoff
11M guaranteed ($1M per school)
$4.5M, $6M or $7.5M for being the 3rd, 2nd or best G5 conference
$6M if our champ gets picked

Other Football Bowls
Approximately $4M

NCAA Tournament
2015 Units - ?? (assume range of 5 to 10 units)
2014 Units - 11 (you incorrectly counted 9 and so your total of 63 is off by 2)
2013 Units - 12
2012 Units - 17
2011 Units - 14
2010 Units - 11
65 + 5-10 units
$255,379/unit
$17.9M minimum

TV
$22M

Total: $59.4M to $69.7M depending on how well we do in football and basketball.

Peterson was Boise even before he was the head coach there. BSU is 2 seasons from being nothing.

Looks like it's been a win-win-loss so far. I do think, since Peterson left, the AAC missed a Boise that's a huge question going forward. Boise could not turn out to be the type of football team the AAC bargained for. I think Boise won when they cut themselves a really nice deal for the next few years. I do think that the MWC was the loser in all of this. Plus, I doubt BYU ever goes back with Utah now in a P5 conference. Add the recent negative comments from the MWC commissioner regarding BYU and pile on the ACC and SEC not considering BYU a sub for a P5 game. So unless the Big 12 offers who knows regarding BYU and the AAC and that future.

Agree....they will be pretty much irrelevant.... I'm glad they didn't join....would just bring down hoops that much more.

I don't understand you're reasoning either.

I'm nor talking about one game.

Harsin was a rookie coach without the first team QB that both Hugh and Gus got to coach.

He still went 8-5 and won his bowl game.

He's also a Boise guy through and through.

Should be fine taking over for Peterson.

Wrong.

Dirk Koetter went 10-2 and 10-3 his last two seasons there.

Dan Hawkins followed and went 53-11.

Both took BCS jobs.

They were joining football only. Their hoops team was going to the Big West.

Boise State enjoyed its greatest successes under Peterson.
It won a BCS bowl game against Oklahoma on two miracle improbable plays...and became known as a giant killer. (Neither Koetter or Hawkins' teams beat a ranked BCS school...or a ranked team while they coaches Boise State. Big name programs were hesitant to schedule Boise State while he was coach.
Sure Dirk Koetter & Dan Hawkins enjoyed success there....but Boise State didn't really 'shine' until Peterson became its head coach.
Harsin may be a fine head coach....but he won't do anything close to Christ Peterson.

I expect Boise to slip in relevance the same way Marshall did.

Boise had already slipped under Peterson.

Last season was their worst record since 94.

Marshall looks to be rising a little- 10-4 last year with a bowl win over Maryland and a good chance to run the table this year with a veteran team and weak schedule.

I need to amend that....Hawkins beat a ranked TCU squad....wasn't a BCS team though.

'Sisters of the poor' weak LOL
I'm hoping on Rice, Middle Tennessee, Ohio, or Western Kentucky to pull off an upset or 3 or 4.

Yep, they do have a SR QB and a few former BCS players on their roster and didn't lose much from last year.

Give them their money back and let Boise, BYU and San Diego State in the conference.

Got to agree, that would be the best thing for the AAC.
