Lets be honest...We have more to gain than they do.

Yes and no. We have more to gain as a program; but Cal's ego would gain a lot by beating us. The problem is that neither side could stand the thought of losing; and neither side will risk playing the game.

Cals Ego would lose a ton more by losing...

UK would lose some respect by losing to 'Little ole Memphis'

I think Memphis would take the game in a heartbeat if a home and home is offered...But why would UK take it when they can Indiana, UNC, MSU and other higher profile programs on the ticket...

I think if Cal was 100% sure he would win he would play in a heartbeat; but losing would eat at him for life.

More access to local recruits?

Memphis and Kentucky have no history, and Kentucky doesn't like to play home and homes. I'd be more interested to schedule other Top 25 programs before Kentucky.

If I knew we were going to win, there would be no game I would like to schedule more. If I knew we were going to lose, there is no game I would like to schedule less.

I would play Kentucky home and home in both sports before Ole Miss or Mississippi State or even UT. Good match in both sports. Not a killer drive for either school.

Screw playing in Nashville.

Doing anything in Nashville is pure craziness. There are so few premium home games; it makes no sense to move one of them to Nashville.

Being a reasonable Tigers fan who is not blinded by hatred and bias, I will affirmatively state that Pastner doesn't want this game because it would be a guaranteed L. In NCAA Basketball on Xbox, I schedule the game every year.

RE: So why haven't Memphis and Kentucky played yet?
If Memphis played Kentucky, it would be a two-hour recruiting special for Cal. ESPN would probably have Dick Vitale cover the game, and he would ride Cal's jock the entire time and talk about how beautifully he handled the Memphis situation and that Kentucky is so much better than Memphis. Tiger fans, do you really want to subject yourselves to that? I'm betting Pastner doesn't.

The best case scenario would be to get them in the tournament so it's not on ESPN, there is no Vitale, and the hopefully unbiased play-by-play and color guy would focus on the game and not Cal since it's the tournament and not some regular season made for TV game.

I agree. Remember he did schedule UMass when he was here.

Well if the game ever happens, you and I can bet on it with no spread.

I'll say this.....

This place has really good posters. They post good stuff.

Making winning posts is hard, but most of us here are going to trust in the system.

We are two feet in.
