Even as far as MBB attendance, most in the A10 are very MAC-esque. Dayton is the only outlier. St. Louis was high this year due to their success. But beyond that, you're talking 5-6K averages in largely sub-par facilities. Nothing to get excited about.
The A10 has 11 NCAA bids in the last two years and the MAC, 2. Not going to pile one with NIT and CIT totals. The A10 receives 5 Million for basically basketball. The MAC receives 1.3 Mill basically for football and no value for basketball. Between NCAA credits and TV, The 14 A10 teams roughly receive 1 Million per university.
The MAC is better because of Football and that drives the bus. You guys are good at soccer and the Sun Belt are very good at baseball.
The bottom line is that for us, we are founding members of the A10 and the Yankee Conference, which is now controlled by the CAA. We don't take leaving conferences lightly.
It's unfortunate the MAC put us on a two year contract. We are not ready to sacrifice our basketball for football. We can handle the next few years getting our house in order. Perhaps in the next few years, we'll have value in Football as well. Very optimistic about our future and like what I've seen so far with recruiting, team excitement, and getting games back on campus.
WTF, give us the boot before we even play 1 MAC game on campus.
Guess it is what it is.
With the addition of Davidson in North Carolina, the A10 has a bigger footprint just North to South, never mind East to West as well.
