EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
I'm going for 3-9 for this coming season. CC will need to get in two more recruiting classes to turn the program around with his style of play.

RE: EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
I'm going to say 5-7 with wins over Old Dominion, Morgan State, UMASS, Akron, and Western.

I was hesitant to say 5, because I'm not sure this team is as good as a five win team... But as long as we can take care of business on the road, the schedule is rather weak in conference.

I'm agreeing with this prediction. CC and staff have done a great job of changing the culture off the field and I'm hoping it transfers to the field.

I don't disagree with your comment. Hopefully we be a solid fundamentally sound team this year ie know how to tackle.

Yeah, defense will most definitely make or break this team. I really think the offense has some solid parts returning that can make them rather fun to watch. AND we do know (by his offseason comments) that CC will not try and fit a square peg in a round hole... He will adapt this team to the parts it has, not the ones he wants.

i'll go with 3-9. I like CC, but it will take more time for him to translate his work into wins. i think one win will be Morgan State and we'll get two from Old Dominion, UMASS and Akron.

EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
I will go with 6-6 and a bowl appearance, wins over Morgan state, Old Dominion, UMASS, Western, Central, and one upset win either over Toledo or NIU. The jucos and seniors will play very large in the success this year.

RE: EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
I'll be happy with 3-9 or 4-8 if we are at least competitive. Last year we only had 3 competitive games...Howard, WMU, and (oddly enough) Rutgers. I hope we can at least double that total this season. A more favorable schedule should help a little, but I think we are at least a year or two away from scaring people.

RE: EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
I think 4-8 is realistic, with wins over Morgan State, UMass, Western, and either Central, Akron, or Ball State.

Very likely losses include MSU, Florida, Northern Illinois, Toledo, and Buffalo.

Old Dominion is no pushover, and I got is as a loss.

I'd like to say more than four wins, but regardless of all the hype and good feelings I'm not sure what we'll see in September.

EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
The pre-season and the Morgan State game is very important. With a new staff and systems in place that game will be where EMU works out the kinks and gets an understanding of what needs to be improved. Evaluate, develop a plan, and make it happen. That's where a experienced HC and staff should be able to make a difference.

EMU should do well against teams that struggle against the run. A veteran OL and the strong RBs may be able to take over games. Just hope the offensive system is not as predictable as it was under RE.

RE: EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
There are certain intangibles that I like about this year:

1. I like the strength coach that CC hired, some people tell me the strength coach is the second most important person on a football program after the head coach. I do like what I see about the training so far with the new coaching.

2. Last year the players went through a lot. I think as difficult as that was the returning players will be stronger for it. I don't how many games win or loss we will have each year, but the players who returned after last year are all winners in my book. Strong inside makes you strong outside.

3. New defensive and offensive schemes, throw away last year's films.

4. I think CC and staff will actually do better at teaching basic football skills like tackling-for years we all seen poor tackling by EMU defenses regardless of who was coach. I think we'll see improvement there.

Wins over Morgan State, Old Dominion, and UMass are (or should be) GIVENS! Show me a victory or two over a respectable program or I will be disappointed.

A win over ODU is a given? They were 8-4 last year and scored a ton of points.

They are supposedly returning a lot of players as well. However, I still expect a victory over a team playing their first year of division 1 football.

Interesting note though, they beat Idaho last year while they were a part of the fcs.... And also allowed 80 points to North Carolina.

Very intriguing matchup if you ask me

Even a bad MAC team should beat ODU. if that is too tall an order, get out of the MAC. So we have 3 automatic wins, can we overachieve and beat *gasp* a team with a winning record? Can we draw *gasp* 10,000 fans for a home game? These would be signs of growth. We can't have another 25 years of the same stuff. There has to be a justification for keeping this program. For the record I say...no and maybe (opening game should draw at least 10k with the turf...).

12-0. I can dream, can't I?

More likely though, 4-8/5-7. I'll wait before I add anymore thought to my prediction.

Akron is improving under Bowden. I am hopeful that EMU goes 6 and 6 with a big win over WMU and the Boat Rowers!

RE: EMU Football Predictions 2014 Win Loss Record?
I'm hoping for 5-7 and expecting 3-9 or maybe 4-8. The truth is this years team won't be that much improved over last years team. Take a look at the roster and point out where we should be improved. Our running backs are the strength of the team and our offensive line should be solid, however we have possession receivers and no real deep threat. Our quarterback showed some moxy last year and as a true freshman got some valued experience; however his mechanics were troubling and his accuracy showed it far to often. Our special teams were unpredictable, especially the kicking game. As many have stated I think we have the right coach but ultimately recruiting will always be the key. I think Creighton will be able to do more with less because he's been a coach at schools where he has worked with unfinished talent, English was used to coaching 3, 4 and 5 star recruits, he didn't know how to coach kids "UP". That being said Creighton won't be able to do anything with the sheer lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Our defensive backfield was beyond bad, our defensive line rarely got penetration and our linebackers were slow to fill gaps. So while I think we would all be pleasantly surprised with 5-7 realistically 3-9 is more likely, i'm just hoping it isn't 1-11 or 0-12. Either way I'll still be at Rynearson for the games; Go Eagles!
