I'm not sure AC has enough hotel rooms to host a modern convention. But New Jersey isn't a swing state, isn't in a swing state area, and is tainted with a corruption reputation. Besides for the Dems, NJ has a GOP Governor. For the GOP, its a gambling mecca which could cause issues with the religious right.

I could see the Dems meeting in Las Vegas (if the Governor was a Dem), but I'd be surprised if the GOP ever did.

Back to the topic. The A-10 should look at the Verizon Center in DC, Baltimore, and Boston for the championship. Phlly has had its turn, VCU has had its turn hosting for decades in the CAA, St Louis is already booked for the MVC, Chicago is just too far for most fans. I think that either DC or Baltimore should be on the list. Neither has ever hosted an A-10 tournament. Baltimore has a facility problem though. I wouldn't mind going to Boston for a tournament.

I think that as the A10 has two years to fill for the Tourney, one in New England (Boston or Providence) and one in either Philly or DC makes the most sense. Then back to NYC.

I wouldn't mind one tournament in Boston and one in DC. All big media markets with lots of alumni in those areas. Philly has had its turn. And then some. I think both DC and Boston would be desirable travel destinations for fans of the teams that for geographical reasons, probably will never host a(nother) A-10 tournament (Dayton, Davidson, and SLU)

The Brooklyn tournament was awesome. I'm afraid the ACC will never leave Brooklyn once they see how much sense it makes as a venue.

No way the Carolina schools will allow that. Back to Greensboro for sure. The A10 will be back in Brooklyn in 2018. I bet 2016 is in DC and 2017 is in Providence. While I would obviously rather the tourney be here in Boston in 2017, I think the Garden is too busy with NHL, NBA and the Hockey East Tourney. If I recall the B10 is in DC in 2017.

I have a huge problem with the A-10 putting a conference tournament in Providence. It may well happen, but it's a terrible idea. A lot of A-10 fans want to compete with the Big East, not ask them for a handout.

The Dunkin Donuts Center is a publicly owned arena that hosts the P Bruins and the Friars, no different than playing it at Verizon, which is the home court of the Wiz, Caps and Hoyas. Or playing it at the Wells Fargo, as Villanova uses that as a second home, along with the Flyers and 76ers..

No to Providence. Its not a big name arena. Its not a big name city. I'd rather have the tournament in Charlotte than Providence. If DC and Boston aren't available, then how about Pittsburgh as a sop to the western teams? Of course it would give an advantage to Duquesne......but then again its Duquesne.

It's quite a bit different. Those pro arenas are known for their professional team connections. DDC only has Providence.

It would be quite the embarrassment for the A-10 to have Big East logos all over their conference tournament.

Oh, they'd give us our own floor for the tournament. But still...its Providence. Kind of a let down after NYC and playing in a NBA Arena

If AC wasn't dying a slow death, I wish they'd still hold the men's tournament there.
Closest I've been is Toms River. Is AC really that bad?

The casinos have been hurting for what seems like decades. It doesn't look terrible yet, but it doesn't help that two of their boardwalk casinos are on death's door. The ones that aren't detached are doing alright, but I think that was part of their appeal, not being part of "all that." But "all that" is what makes AC what it is.

Boardwalk Hall also is what it is. It takes its share of licks on the outside, not always looking great, but, it's over 85 years old now. I just don't know if it resonates to those who aren't between that Philly and NYC swath. Strangely enough, I think the whole indie thing has done well for certain performers and entertainment and these unique performance spaces, but it's those mid-size places that are feeling it, which BH is. Old meccas like the Palestra and maybe even Stabler Arena have schools attached to them to keep them relevant. BH is kind of like Hersheypark Arena...a nice throwback, but not appropriate for other purposes. I wonder if AC would consider tossing Boardwalk Hall to the wolves if it meant its own survival like a smaller, modernized multi-purpose arena like Hershey got with the Giant Center.

If the A-10 didn't have its basketball tourney in Charlotte with the 49ers in town... its definitely NOT hosting it with Davidson. Just saying!

Agreed. It's also why St. Louis is never going to get one.

The tournament was on Dayton's home floor twice. The reason St Louis will never get the tournament is because the arena is already reserved for Arch Madness.

I wouldn't think it would be too hard for the A-10 to blow the MVC out of ScottTrade for a year. The SEC just did it.

You're probably correct. But I still think DC is due for a turn before St Louis. We've never hosted the tournament and there's been a DC team since the league's inception.

Yeah, that's the current debate. DC would be fine with me, even though 1 of the years the A-10 needs DC is booked too. A lot of A-10 fans are asking for the Palestra for one of the two years.

UNCC made themselves VERY unpopular with the A-10 community.

I think there's more of a movement by the A-10 towards scheduling the tournament in big name arenas in big cities. Charlotte qualifies. But I think Verizon should be the logical choice for at least one of the open dates. And the other....I'm guessing Boston.
