There is no such thing as the 1st Annual. It can't be annual if it's the first. It should be the Inaugural.

Meh... not sure I agree. Inaugural does not imply annual, which they clearly are trying to imply.

First annual is completely incorrect and only used by people who don't know appropriate grammar. Inaugural is defined as marking a beginning: first in a projected series.
By definition, annual is something occuring or happening every year or once a year. Since it hasn't happened yet or before, it can't be annual yet. This will be the very first time, that's why the appropriate phrase is inaugural. It's a question of being grammatically correct, something that should be expected from university officials.

Not a football alum but would really love to hear the latest on these topics.

Seriously considering registering under the name "Greg Barksdale".

it seems to me that surprisingly very few of the players that played for Coach Pettibone seem to come back and I was trying to think of one from saddler era.

It seemed like many of them came back for the Orange Bowl. I got to hang out with some of them before the Orange Bowl at noon or so. No idea on who but 3-4 guys who played for those two coaches who were very welcoming of this Huskie fan who was on the trip solo.

BTW - occurring is spelled with 2 "R"s.

I think it can be annual if the plan is to have it every year. Inaugural is first in a "projected" series - same thing, you're assuming it will continue. And nowhere does it imply it will happen annually. Though I understand the thought. I hate when they say to do 10 "reps" - the first one isn't a repetition so if you do 10 it's only 9 repetitions.

Anyway, this is a good idea. Glad to see the AD is pulling out all the stops in trying to move the program forward.

I wonder is Lou Wicks will attend this.
Lou Wicks is currently the football coach at Tremont High School - the town next to where I live.
Lou (FB) was the MVP in the California bowl in 1983. I think he still stays in touch with NIU & keeps up with NIU football. His daughter Rachel is one of the football videographers.

The day you have arrived in life is when you dont worry about correcting what people say or how they say them, unless you are their teacher or professor for example. I was guilty of it when I was younger. For me that happened after beating leukemia. I only worry about things that are important now. Life is better not worrying about small stuff.

Yes, I have to agree with you. With age comes wisdom type of thing. I had a health scare myself a couple years ago so I understand. Congrats on your victory beating leukemia! 04-cheers

I never point out errors like that unless it's a post by someone who's being grammar police of someone else and they make a mistake. Or if they make a typo that ends up looking funny, but that's not a criticism.

Coming up Thursday..(Unfortunately, our NFL guys won't be able to attend as their camps open this week.)

Just wondering if we might have someone from the Board attending?

Well that was poor scheduling.

Also why wouldn't it be over a weekend so more could attend?
