What do you guys think?
This guy wanted to transfer to Charlotte, we denied his request to join the team.

He was potentially going to be UT's starting QB this year before deciding to transfer. His transfer didn't seem to play out all that well. Seems he definitely burned bridges. Apparently had some character concerns.

Would you be happy or angry if your school did the same?

Not enough backstory about his issues for me to go on. I trust our coaching staff when it comes to judging character and dealing with infractions. If his issues were enough to raise red flags I say good on your HC/staff for denying the transfer request.

RE: What do you guys think?
He wasn't a trouble maker in regards to legal.issues, he just wasn't big on the off the field things that go into being a good player and teammate.

I'm torn. I hate to turn away talent. Especially when we just brought on a transfer from UGA that got into some pretty serious legal trouble for check fraud or something like that.

I'm sure it id a tough situation for our coaches since his Fergusons brother is a WR on the team.

I tend to think coaches know best. Having command of the team is a huge priority. There are about 125 men on a team. They need to know who the big cheese is. Wilder has dismissed quite a few players from the team for incidents that didn't cause legal trouble.

Definitely would need more information to form an opinion. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if a school decides to overlook and or have a different take on his circumstances. It'll be interesting to see if he lands at an FBS program.

Need more info, I agree.

Sometimes you need to take risks - from the limited info we've got it sound like the Charlotte coaches aren't too fond of doing so with this guy...

There's got to be a lot more to the story about this guy than is being said. No way you turn away talent like that unless you have a very good reason.

RE: What do you guys think?
He was planning to enroll in school. If he still is, I'm hoping the coaches will let him walk on and prove that he is worth the risk.

That said, we signed a pretty solid 3* QB for the 2014 class. He led Georgia 3A football in TD's and had interest from some big programs. He's a hard worker and enrolled early. I'm optimistic about him.

As many have said, I don't know enough to pass any kind of opinion on this situation, although I will say that "character matters" and I wish more coaches would pay attention to it.

I'd put my trust in a GA football QB. =]

RE: What do you guys think?
He's listed on recruiting sites as a "pro-style QB". Most teams in CUSA don't run that style of offense. It just doesn't work any more.

RE: What do you guys think?
Ferguson has enrolled at Charlotte, but he is not on the team.

He plans to try to walk on in the Spring.

Not every day you see a kid that was challenging for a starting position on an SEC team quit and try to walk on at a CUSA school.

No guarantee he'll be on the team next season, but if he proves himself to be a good person and a good teammate, he would be a great addition to the program. I hope it happens.
