RE: Owls at USATF National Championships
After prelims, Funmi is in 2nd place with 6.81 meters (22' 4.25"). Three jumps remaining for the top 8. Tianna Bartoletta, who won the 100 meters yesterday, is the current leader. The top American for the past several years, Brittney Reese, is in 3rd. Another top jumper, Chelsea Hayes, is 5th. Surprisingly, Janae Deloach did not make it to finals. Unlike several other events, this one is loaded. Several top Americans in other events did not participate because there are no world championship teams to make. The next Worlds will be in Beijing in 2015.

No change among the top 3, as both Funmi and Reese fouled in round 4. In fact, Reese has only one fair jump.

In typical Reese fashion, she jumps 6.92 meters in round 5 to go into the lead (22' 8.5").

Another foul for Funmi, and no improvement for Bartoletta as we head to the 6th and final jumps.

That jump in Sacramento moves Funmi to #10 in the world this year. I look for her to move up several notches as the season progresses.

Also competing in Sacramento was former Owl pole vaulter Ari Ince, who finished 9th in the javelin (only 8 move to finals).

Javelin results

Ari has thrown 57.90 meters (189' 11") this year, which places her #37 in the world. If she had thrown close to that, she would have been battling for 3rd place at the championships.

Thanks, I did not realize that the link would not go straight to the results.
