It looks like those rich kids at SMU are just looking out for #1.

Low income students don't go to SMU.

I think you're confusing academic standards with whether "low income" students attend.

Note - this is 'contributions to the public good' not football prowess, national reputation, or school endowment. I doubt he'd give a shat.

And scholarships are probably the reason why Rutgers ranks 13th in social mobility.

The U of Texas opposition to Memphis was not based on football. They felt the school was below the Big 12's academic standards.
Would like to see the breakdown of the data to see where areas in the review we rated highest. Have a feeling that the mobility part of the equation was major portion of our score.

We did score high on 'mobility' - #53. Which makes sense considering how poor Memphis (the city) is and the likely fact that a lot of Memphis grads are the first in their families to graduate college -- or even go.

And while 'social mobility' is nice it's not limited to schools in cities like the city of Memphis. West Virginia ranked better. So did Michigan State.

It's only one simple measure but Memphis, at 64.7%, has a lower acceptance rate than 6 of 10 current Big 12 schools.
Baylor University - 60.7%
Iowa State - 83.3%
Kansas - 92.3%
Kansas State - 99%
Oklahoma - 79.1%
OSU - 78%
TCU - 40.9%
Texas - 46.8%
Texas Tech - 64.3%
West Virginia - 85.1%

Texas' opposition to us is based on their experience with Houston in the SWC.
Houston beat their asses once given a stage to do so. they did not like competing with Houston.

Wow, that is a great stat. Can't believe both Kansas schools are that high. That's scary.
