Summer Work for Tiger Players
Tiger Fans: We have a real need to get some summer work for our Tiger Football Players.

If anyone knows of any positions (full or part-time) that would help out some of these players, please let me know via PM.

This includes any of you all that may need weekend help around the house, yard, etc. Anyone that may have some odd jobs around their house/yard is encouraged to consider one of our football players.

The NCAA allows us (boosters) to employ these guys just as you would any other worker. Pay them an appropriate amount for the work that is performed and there is no compliance issue.

Thanks for your consideration and let me know via PM and I'll coordinate to have these players show up when needed!

RE: Summer Work for Tiger Players
Asking once again if anyone knows of or needs work done, that one or several of our players can do.

Again, there is a real need for some of our players to find something that would give them some extra money for rent, utilities, gas, food etc. Summer school is usually part time academic load and therefore their scholarship money is reduced and this can present a financial hardship for some.

Anything would help and be appreciated.

Thanks!

I assume the work would be in the local area, but needed to ask if regional locations are in play. For example, the Nashville area. Depending on schedules and duration of course.

yeah, depending on scheduling and such, the only problem with that is the travel and possible lodging expense that would offset the earnings. I'm in ne ms, or about 100 miles from memphis, and would possibly be willing to offer something part time in the warehouse. it would be ideal, actually, as I usually wear a lot of hats, but can't help with manual stuff so much for awhile because of recent surgery I've had.

RE: Summer Work for Tiger Players
Thanks for the responses k2 and tigeriron, but we do need to keep it local if possible. Many of these guys still have summer school classes and the logistics involved in out of town work would probably negate what they could probably earn, etc.

Thanks for the possibilities though. If anyone else has something that these guys can do, it would really help.

I have had them over to my house to lay sod, spread mulch, spring planting, etc. While it's stuff I could have done, it was something I felt I could use help with and in turn help them and the most satisfying aspect was that these guys leaned how to do things they have never done before. Something they can take with them as they grow into homeowners one day.

Summer scholarships are actually less because the summer term is only 10 weeks whereas the fall and spring are 16 weeks.

I sure hope you are working with the athletic department in setting up these summer jobs. Players working for boosters can be a sticky situation and highly scrutinized. Gotta make sure you aren't paying someone $100 to cut a 500 sq ft yard. Or $50 to cut a yard even though the player never even shows up to "work".

this was fully handled by the school. Others just helped get the word out (this was the previous two years)

It wasn't enough for the mods to take down the original dumb post. TAB had to put it in his signature. I was going to say that I don't know what he is trying to accomplish, but that isn't true at all. Major difference in what he thinks he is and what he actually is.

First of all; you're full of it; and second, there are 100 players on the roster. Third, I guess our players must be BCS bowl quality when it comes to break ins, since there are hundreds of NCAA arrests every year and none of ours seem to get into any trouble.

Sometimes, "Injured his left ankle" is code for, "He's been suspended for '________.'" I won't divulge into specific situations that I know of.
