People just throw out the "hating on soccer" stuff just to get a response. It's like all the gay activism and atheist activism (on a obvioulsy smaller scale of course) we see everyday. Some folks hate soccer and that's cool, I used to be one of those people. It's easier to bash something than it is to understand and appreciate something.

IMO, the main impediment from soccer becoming a mainstream US sport is television. Think of all the commercials you see during an NFL game. That's big money for the NFL. Televised soccer has uninterrupted halves so no commercials. Not much money to be made that way.

The fact that major networks NBC (Premier league) and Fox (Bundesliga) are paying top dollar for foriegn soccer leagues and actually putting the same effort in coverage into them the same way they do american sports says something

What is unfortunate about that? Whether or not Americans watch, it still is and always will be the most popular sport on the planet.
