If you can find a contractor that would build an IPF for 5 million or under I would ask to see his license. Just a football only, less than 120 yards (Full field with both endzones) would start at 8-9 million. Anything multi-use would be in the range of 12-16 million.
The IAC was part of a 30 million dollar vision campaign that includes:
Soccer Complex (Opened in Aug 2013)
IAC (Indoor Athletic Complex) (Opening in Aug 2014)
Sports Medicine Facility
Hall of Fame
Academic Center
IAC will have:
6 lane 300 meter track
Batting cages for baseball and softball
A net for golf
Portable Tennis courts
Seating for 1000
The IAC took up 14.5 million of the 30 million.
I recognize this as my post. Marshall's IAC (Indoor Athletic Complex) final price came in at 14.27 million which was under budget. The IAC is part of Marshall's 30 million dollar vision campaign.

MTSU didn't those are the specs of Marshall's new IAC that will open next month.

You can build a football only IPF for between 6 and 7 million. No frills, bells or whistles. Roughly 84,000sf. This is if you already own the land. It cannot be done for less than 6 IMHO unless you have a bunch of folks doing things at cost. Not happening in today's climate.

Even if its just football only no way would you get a 120 yard facility for 6-7 million. GTs IPF is football only and 70 yards with 1 endzone. And kicking in it could get tricky, the highest point in the facility is 65 feet, total cost 7.1 million (2011).
For a 120 yard facility (100 yards and 2 endzones) with no bells and whistles I would say 9-11 million would be the going rate. And a multi-use would be 12-16 million.
Marshall's IAC was 14.27 million, the academic center will be 1.2 million, the sports medicine facility 3.3 million and hall of fame center will be 2.8 million. The soccer complex was 8.9 million. Which totals 30.47 million.
Marshall's soccer complex is only one of two collegiate socccer stadiums designated by FIFA.

Its not, I was using the Marshall cost of an IPF/IAC as a barometer for price, nothing more nothing less. Since ours is happening now the prices are up to date. Since our IAC also is part of a 30 million dollar vision campaign I figured I would tell you our other costs that got it to the 30 million mark.
Shrug. It's no big deal. We appreciate the info and pics of your new facility. Your's cost what it cost, and it's a fresh build so that is directly comparable. OTOH, there are a lot of ways to build things. You can design it with further bells and whistles in mind and add them later on another round of budgeting.
In this case, AB knows rather well what he's talking about.

Union labor?
Did I just see a comparison for a construction project at Georgia Tech versus one at UAB ?
The GT IPT is 1000 feet from I-85. All 16 lanes of it. Given the tightness of the location to the other buildings & the logistical nightmare for materials, I would conservatively double my building estimate.
Something is going on at the practice field. The part that is immediately next to the parking lot on University has had the fence taken down. It still seems to be up around the back field with the running track.
