Well now Frye is signing with the Magic. Not sure why he would want to be a part of that major rebuild. Not really sure what the Magic are doing either. Maybe Frye will be a veteran leader and a mentor for Aaron Gordon.

The PF market is getting getting sparse. Trevor Booker from Washington is another name to watch for teams who need one.

I actually like what the Magic have going.

Gordon and Vucevic will compliment one another well.

If Oladipo can learn to shoot...

What about the Starter jackets? Gimme that green and purple winter swag.

To cover LeBron's max contract on the side so you have cap room to get some decent backups?

Yep, like McRoberts.

RE: OT: NBA Free Agency & Draft
So Charlotte has offered a max contract (4yr/$63M) to Hayward. He can sign it as soon as tomorrow, and then the Jazz will have 3 days to decide to match or let him walk. It's an overpay, especially considering their other needs, but I think he would fit in well with the rest of the Hornet's roster. Jazz have said they will match and have plenty of cap space to do so, but this is really forcing their hand. I think the Jazz will match, because it's hard for them to attract stars and he is part of a solid young core, but they may decided a max is too rich.

RE: OT: NBA Free Agency & Draft
Even with giving Hayward the max, Charlotte would still have about $4M in cap space. So they would still be able to address other needs (PF, backup PG).

Well, hopefully we can dump Henderson off to the Jazz or something, freeing up another $6 million or so (I think).

I think max is a bit much for Hayward, but he does do two things we need: score and pass.

With McRoberts leaving, we have lost one of our best passers. Hayward makes up for this while also adding more scoring punch. I wish we'd offered less, but I'll be okay with it if it actually goes through.

RE: OT: NBA Free Agency & Draft
Interesting trade between Boston, Cleveland, and Brooklyn.

I think this trade technically puts Boston over the luxury tax with a pretty mediocre roster, but I'm sure they aren't done making moves this summer. They still want Love and are acquiring assets for a trade.

Brooklyn basically just swapped a shooting guard for a point guard.

Cleveland is the most interesting though. $24M in cap space is enough to give LeBron the max, plus they will be able to add more FAs afterward. Plenty of NBA players will follow LeBron. The downside of this trade is if LeBron doesn't sign, then Cleveland has basically gutted its roster for nothing. They only have 7 players currently signed for next year. There are a lot of other good FAs available if they can't get LeBron, but it's still a dangerous game.

If Charlotte lands Hayward, I would think Henderson or MKG would be on the trading block.

We might be overpaying Hayward but people said the same about Jefferson last year. You really have to put trust in Cho and Clifford here.

Overpaying GH by $1-2M a year, but landing him and a decent backup PG and veteran PF is the best case scenario for the Hornets for 2014-2015.

If they don't sign Hayward look for them to sign Marvin Williams and a backup PG thus having the same issue of starting Hendo and MKG.

RE: OT: NBA Free Agency & Draft
I really like Zack Lowe's NBA columns and he wrote about Gordon Hayward situation today.

Link

He talks about how Hayward should be better when playing with Walker and Jefferson rather than being the alpha dog in Utah last year. The Lance Stephenson mention is an interesting one. I could definitely see Charlotte going after him if Utah keeps Hayward.

I'm excited that Charlotte is forcing Utah's hand, if only that it means something is happening in free agency rather than just a bunch of swirling rumors.

YUP.

I hope they do D Wade justice though, cause he is still hobbled by his knees and not doing them a lot of favors over the course of a long NBA season.
