There is no mention that ETSU would not play BB at FH. In fact, the article pointed out the cooperation between the school board, the city, and ETSU to make the move to FH.

Basketball has no other place to go ..football has taken the dome for a practice facility. They talked about it all day today on radio and tv.

RE: 2014-15 OoC schedule
Looks to me like the open space in the middle of the Dome is still there. The roof issues were obviously just a bad attempt to excuse this move to Freedom Hall. They are literally putting a piece of white material over the existing roof, will likely be done by the time basketball season starts, and could play in the Dome while the work is being done if they wanted.

The only reason that we could not play in the Dome this season is the terrible image that would give for our athletics staff to have to go back and reverse themselves. They will never do that, they would probably double their lease offer to the city before they would do that.

And Sander and the football coaches were on Radio and TV all day yesterday talking about how the dome is now a football practice facility.. showing the football team on the football rug which has been put down and cleaned and repaired.. and we now have the only indoor practice facility for a program of our size in the US which they say will give us a big advantage in recruiting.. plus.. new football locker rooms and weight room.. etc. etc. etc.
They also said the dome will no longer be used for basketball.. but they thought Freedom Hall will be better for basketball anyway...

My point is.. Football has taken over the dome... the lady Bucs are going to Brooks.. the men have no other place to go except for FH....

Fussing in public over light bills, high school PE classes, etc. is juvenile. Would be nice if ETSU and the city didn't need a "signed contract" -- showing that they can work together on a gentleman's handshake. Don't get it, seems the city would be doing some kissing here to get ETSU in the place and be saying in its public statements that this thing is a done deal and how appreciative they are of ETSU's contribution to the JC economy as well their overall contribution to the city and region. Petty, petty.

I keep saying that ETSU AND the city need to work together to make as much money off the Dome and FH as possible every year if ETSU basketball will be at FH permanently -- especially using those 12,000 Dome seats to make money during non-football season. NOTE: I still remember Dr Noland saying in his first month on the job that ETSU should strive to have a new convocation center within five years. Of course all that has changed as conditions on the ground have dictated -- but he did emphasize that at first. I still hope that basketball returns to the ON-CAMPUS Dome and shares it with football like 1976 -- 2003 until that convocation center can be built.

RE: 2014-15 OoC schedule
Image baloney.

There are no restrooms on the main floor.
There are no concessions on the main floor.
There is no visiting team locker room.
The tennis courts are unusable because of damage from the portable seating being rolled over them.
The track has been damaged because of the portable seating.
The early part of the basketball season has to be played on the road because of the football season. This made scheduling home ooc games very difficult.

Dr. Noland told the 2013 football homecoming reunion group that was gathered in the east side basketball gym of the dome , that we were siting in the, soon to be, new football weight room. He went on to say that the entire dome would become an indoor practice facility and that planning was in the works to move basketball to Freedom Hall.

The basketball coaches want to play at FH.
The players want to play at FH.
The majority of the fans want to play at FH.
The City of JC wants ETSU to play at FH.
The 125 committee recommended ETSU to play at FH.
The SoCon wants ETSU to play at FH.
Scott Carter wants to play at FH.
DR. Sander wants to play at FH.
Dr. Noland wants to play at FH.

Barring a complete disaster of some sort, ETSU MEN'S BASKETBALL WILL PLAY AT FH UNTIL A NEW FACILITY IS BUILT.

Find another horse to beat, this one is dead.

Owned.

Seriously, though, I don't see anything to firmly suggest basketball is not happening at FH for a while to come. The city and university are going to see mutual benefits. Both parties have been quick to speak and slow to act, but it's going down. I have an under-employed friend already hired on to the staff that will be setting up the court, coincidentally.

If only we could actually use all 12,000 seats in the dome when we partner with the city for events...
