Over there, over there,
Send the word, send the word over there
That the Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming
The drums rum-tumming everywhere.
So prepare, say a prayer,
Send the word, send the word to beware -
We'll be over, we're coming over,
And we won't come back till it's over, over there.

They've rebounded nicely. Could very well be our first 2-0 start in the Cup since 1930.

Well, they did rebound nicely. That last gasp by Portugal is just brutal, but that is why they are one of the best teams in the world. US still in great shape, but that ending is a tough one to take.

Send them to hockey camp to learn how to defend players in the slot. To let that guy trot away from one guy and run right past another (who never even looked) to get the pass was nuts.

Just ridiculously poor defending. And considering the situation, absolutely inexcusable. Not to mention Bradley's--seemingly the only bald guy not having a great tournament--give away.

Oh well, on to Thursday with a decent chance to advance.

The lackadaisical "prevent defense" fails again. When will coaches and players learn this lesson?

Another reason to hate this game! Try as I might to like this game, it ain't gonna happen when the other team wins in minute 94-3/4 in a 90 minute game!! Can they get into the modern world and stop the clock when the guys are writhing on the field. Sorry for the rant, but......UGH!!

RE: Go Yanks!
The good news is that with a draw both US and Germany advance, and Germany are top of table on goal differential, so Germany are happy with a draw. In the old days, Germany and US would play the dullest 0-0 draw imaginable on Thursday. Not sure that will happen this time, but wouldn't rule it out.

I know next to nothing about soccer, but that didn't look like prevent defense to me. Prevent defense would have been 2 or 3 guys camped in front of goal in case trouble erupted. I saw a bunch of white shirts furiously trying to keep up with Ronaldo and the guy who scored the goal as they raced down the field. They were in the last minute -- why weren't there some defenders already in our end?

There were plenty of defenders in the box, but no one picked up the guy with the fresher legs soon enough and he beat them to the spot.

They are so many guys flopping on the field the game might never end. Wish I had the stretcher/litter concession for these games.

Go Yanks!

Going into group play, this is the exact result most of us hoped for, but after the way the game unfolded, it certainly doesn't feel that way.

The good thing is that we hold our destiny in our own hands.

Given their point differential edge (which will be nearly impossible to overcome with one game in group play remaining), doesn't Germany essentially have a spot (into the knockout round) all but wrapped up? Of course, they'll still have something to play for, as they'll get an easier round 2 opponent if they advance as the top team in the group.

Germany is in very good shape regardless because of their margin against Portugal.

A draw puts both US and Germany through, with 5 points each while nobody else can get more than 4, and Germans top of table due to goal differential. In past World Cups, that has almost guaranteed that the US and Germany will play the most boring 0-0 draw imaginable on Thursday.

Yes... if you didn't find a reason to enjoy soccer after watching that match then you might as well stop trying.
