Biggest surprise
Spain not advancing?

Italy losing to Costa Rica

Costa Rica advancing from that group.

England not advancing.

As many as 5 of the top 10 teams may not advance to knockout play. Two top 10 teams from group D will not advance. US win and Portugal will not advance. Spain not advancing. Switzerland may not advance(but is favorite to advance).

RE: Biggest surprise
Costa Rice taking 6 points from Italy and Uruguay is the biggest surprise.

I don't think Spain losing their first 2 games is shocking because Netherlands and Chile are 2 quality teams. How inept and old they looked was a surprise though.

RE: Biggest surprise
Costa Rica and the number of matches decided within the last minute. I was also surprised an inferior Brazil made it as deep as they did, and still think their corner awarded vs. Colombia @ 0:07 which resulted in a goal was unfounded.
