Maryland swaps series with UCF and WVU
edit: I just saw this article on FBSschedules for the first time, but I see it's an article from the end of March, so it's probably old news.

This actually works to our benefit. UCF will now host Maryland in 2016 and travel to Maryland in 2017. We were originally going to play them in 2020 and 2021, but West Virginia will now be playing on those dates. With UCF getting the first game, there's no chance of them backing out on us.

2016 OOC games:
@Michigan (1 and done, but a good one imo)
Maryland
FIU

2017 OOC games:
@Texas (second return game of 2-1 deal for opening our stadium)
@Maryland

I love the 2016 schedule. Michigan is paying us a very nice paycheck for that game, it'll be on national TV, and it's a game we could very well win. Maryland is very beatable as well. Our 2014 recruiting class was our best ever, and those guys will be dominating the starting lineups by 2016.

The 2017 schedule is a bear with two road games against P5 teams. It sucks getting a 1-2 deal with Texas, but we were a fledgling program back in 2007 and Texas gave us a great opening game. The price was fair, we just have to pay our dues. @Maryland should be a good game. Hopefully we can get a third P5 team to play us at home that year, I'd rather not load up the home schedule with G5/FCS teams. We need at least one good OOC opponent at home to maintain fan interest, imo.

Michigan, Maryland, FIU is a pretty good mix of quality schools.... I mean.... a easy, a medium, and a hard.

Both UCF and USF have done a good job of lining up games vs P5 competition.

Doesn't SMU have a one and done @ Michigan as well? This year we have A&M, Baylor and TCU (which is one of the few we have beaten lately along with Pitt). As a Conference I love you guys having a shot at the P5. Beat UT!

Cincinnati has a one and done @Michigan as well, but we got a home and home basketball series out of it too.

RE: Maryland swaps series with UCF and WVU
I imagine the WV, Maryland, UCF deal likely was a winner for all involved. Maryland basically kept the status quo, WV probably still has some near term scheduling to work out as part of the conf change. and UCF gained an early P5 series that it needed.

His post showed 2015 through 2017. Penn St is a 2014 game. Probably to reflect all 12 teams in 2015. I'm sure he could add 2014 if it's important enough for you.

Yes, and in addition to those future listings, we have Maryland and NC State coming to Tampa this year and go to Wisconsin. We've been able to sign a few home and homes though we'll see if Illinois and Wisconsin actually show up in Tampa in 2017.

Our location is surely helping both USF and UCF get the home and homes. Coming down to either Orlando or Tampa for a game is a nice vacation for these northern P5 teams, and allows them to wave their flag in Florida for recruiting.

Tulsa hosts Oklahmoma
UCF vs Penn State in Dublin, travels to Missouri, (hosts BYU)
UConn (hosts BYU)
USF hosts Maryland and NC State and plays at Wisconsin

RE: Maryland swaps series with UCF and WVU
Best scenario for any AAC team for these non-conf series would be to host the P5 team FIRST...as it seems more and more P5 teams are buying out return games these days (Kansas State bought out return game to UCF, Michigan State bought out return game to USF, etc...).

Fortunately, UCF was able to start some series at home (Texas, Missouri, South Carolina), so the odds that team's will buyout a home game is obviously less...but anytime you open up on the road in a P5 series...you open yourself up to getting your return home game bought out.

Easier said than done. Generally they have the most leverage.
