Slappies seeing 14-0
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=340&f=2793&t=12949606

Quote:Dave Heeke did a heck of a job with this schedule as every game is winnable, and CMU returning the most starters in the nation in 2014 helps.

Many possibilities (six) to finish with less than six losses in 2014:

9-5
10-4
11-3
12-2
13-1
14-0

We see this every year from their lot. "10+ wins or bust!" "we could be looking at a 13-win season here" etc etc...

It's almost comical.

Every team has those same six chances to finish with less than 6 losses, mathematically that is just the way it works. None of the MAC teams from Michigan are likely to achieve those results.

RE: Slappies seeing 14-0
Every prediction I've seen has Central fourth in West, which means losses to Toledo, NIU, Ball State.

Crossovers are Ohio U., Miami, and at Buffalo.

OOC's are Chattanooga, Syracuse, at Purdue, and at Kansas.

To be bowl-eligible then they would have to win four of those seven.

Chattanooga may be one of the better OOC teams on the schedule. They have a veteran QB, the son of the coach. 16 TD's , 5 INTs, and 9 TD's rushing. They won 8 games last year, and played at Alabama (49-0) and lost by 2 to Ga Southern, the team that beat Florida.

So you're saying 13-1? 04-cheers

You won't hear 13-1 from me. I see 8-4 regular season as the best we can do. Anything less, or any non-competitive games, would be enough for me to get on the Next Coach In bandwagon.

6 or 7 wins maybe a stretch.

RE: Slappies seeing 14-0
CMU has 16 starters back including entire OL.

Obviously a lot will depend on development of QB Rush.

If they win all four crossover-OOC home games, likely 6-6.

Even if they lose to say, Ohio U. and Syracuse - Buffalo, Purdue, and Kansas on the road by themselves are not unwinnable.

Chips could easily be 1-8 after the first 9 games:

Chattanooga
@Purdue
Syracuse
@Kansas
@Toledo
Ohio
@NIU
Ball State
@Buffalo

Game#10 @EMU could be very dangerous for CMU. Roback is the best QB EMU's had in a long time and capable of carving up a defense with his arm. A revitalized passing game with some decent RB's makes the Eagles a real threat.

RE: Slappies seeing 14-0
Hard to judge where CMU will be this year. I think it depends on if they've found a halfway-decent QB yet or not. It will also depend on how much their opponents have improved (or NOT improved). Purdue and Kansas were terrible last year. Chattanooga is a good FCS squad. Syracuse went bowling last year. And of course the top half of the MAC west will remain strong, even with all of their QBs graduating. I could see CMU finishing with 3 wins or 8. Hard to pin them down at the moment.

While we all know that ^^THIS^^ is a ridiculous thing to think or say as a MAC school, especially one that just doesn't have a legit chance to say it based on their recent history and their head coach. The worst part however is that in the last 10 years, they have actually been able to legitimately hope for this and cashed 3 or 4 MAC titles in during that time frame.

These are the same kind of ridiculous things that I have ready from our own homer fans and athletic dept for the last 20 years. THIS year its 10 wins and a MAC Title or bust. I remember a few years ago hearing all about how we were going to run the non conference table and go on to win the MAC in a run away. We haven't seen a MAC title in Kalamazoo in 25 years and counting now.

Its the same for all of our MAC schools and fan bases. Unrealistic expectations for mid major teams that no one outside of our own fan bases give a rats @$$ about or even know who they are.

RE: Slappies seeing 14-0
My other question is. Why does it seem like we have a thread on this board monthly that revolves around what CMU is going to do? Or what they are doing in recruiting? And trying to mock them because of it.

Everyone does realize that our team barely went 1-11 last year, right?
Everyone does realize that our team and coach are kinda the laughing stock of the MAC right now, right?

Maybe its our way of attempting to try and feel better about our situation or maybe its to deflect attention from what is really going on at WMU. I don't know, but I am always puzzled as to why we have so many threads ragging on every other school. Personally, I don't care I'm interested in my school.

You think this is bad? Every other thread on the chimp forums is either about WMU/Coach Fleck or eventually gets derailed in that direction.

I don't ever go over there, because like I said I just don't care. But I guess maybe that is just the angle that some prefer to take on these boards. If so, then I guess that makes sense for them. Like I said, I just choose not to really care about other schools and wish that ours could get their stuff together and actually have a legitimate chance and doing something special for once.

Ahhh, another supposed Bronco fan cowering in fear of the Chimps. If you can only hang your hat on WMU success then you're really no different than the average Walmart Wolve....... A front runner bandwagon guy. You might want to copy my signature. You should be over on the hoops board, that's a championship culture over there, and you won't have to worry that Western is only 2-2 against the Dan Enos juggernaut machine.
