Apparently BB&T donated 1 mil to UCF's B school. Would be nice to get them on board with the AAC.

This is hardly a complete list -- I was looking back at who sponsored the basketball tourneys again and none of them are listed.

We are a new, and recently maligned conference. Maybe if we spread the word, more will sign on. Who knows? There might even be a corporation in North Carolina that would be interested.

Wheres FedEx? Golden Corral and BB&T CEOs are ECU grads. I wonder who pursues these for the conference.

Golden Corral and BB&T are both regional. Doubt they would sponsor a conference where most of the teams are outside their footprint
Golden Corral is a national company with restaurants in every AAC state except for CT. http://goldencorral.com/locator/mobile.php

I realized that or corrected myself. However, just because they're in the same state doesn't mean they're in the footprint. See Pennsylvania

I wonder why BB&T donated 1 mil to UCF considering the CEO got his undergrad and MBA from ECU's school of business

Corps give to all sorts of causes. BB&T gives ECU a ton of money as well, hence our business school having a BB&T logo on the building.

I spent many years in that building and never noticed. I knew they hired tons of pirates, glad to know they support us financially too

I remember being promised by some Memphis fans that FedEx would give the conference $10 million a year and guarantee we would anchor the Liberty Bowl. Maybe even pay to make sure we had a BCS slot. Or something bizarro like that.

When did anyone say that FedEx would give the conference - the real Big East or this one - ten million a year? Now there was a story, reported by CBSSports and never retracted, that FedEx would promise 100 million in advertising *IF* Memphis was invited to the Big 12. Once that story got out it was all retracted (the deal) by FedEx. And don't roll your eyes. There was major league talk that the Liberty Bowl would follow Memphis to the "Big East." This isn't the old "Big East" (football or basketball) nor is it a BCS conference. But even if it were still a possibility at one time despite the changed circumstances -- no fracking way the Liberty Bowl, the business that it is, doesn't jump on the Big 12 versus the SEC deal it has now.

Gary Parrish, the author of that article, was actually called on the CBSSports carpet after the brass at FedEx took umbrage. Bottom line, after the lawyers on both sides hashed it out, the CBS story stayed up. Makes you think it was true.
