RE: Tigers can learn from Spurs

1. The Spurs built a team of good players, not superstars. Then they coached em up and pointed them in the same direction. It's not necessary, or perhaps even preferable, to send nothing but 5 star players out on the field or court.
2. The Spurs were motivated by their loss to the Heat last season in the finals. As Lombardi said, "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a frequent loser." FB and BB both have reasons to be motivated toward "noticeable improvement".
3. The Spurs focus on teamwork. They encourage each other. They are unselfish. They are coachable. I hope the players (stars, and role players) we are recruiting are team-first guys.
4. The Spurs are balanced. Defense and offense are both excellent. Plus, they are deep. Their bench led the league in scoring.
5. It took time. Popovich has been their coach for 18 years. Our teams have young coaches who are going to be very, very good-somewhere. I personally hope it's at the University of Memphis.
Are you serious? Duncan is probably the best power forward in the history of the league and Parker is one of the best PG to play. Both will be in the Hall of fame. Maybe someday JP willl have 2 consensus AA on his team.
