Looking forward to the football season!
I always get psyched for the new season which is not a good thing because expectations always leads to disappointment.

However, having said that, I believe that a new season, new players combined with experienced players as well as lessons learned by all, both coaches and players, equate to optimism. Granted, cautious optimism...but none the less optimism.

Who do you think will have breakout seasons, be the surprise of the team, or will contribute in a huge fashion?

What freshman do you think will see the field and who are you most impressed with at this time.

Thank you.

RE: Looking forward to the football season!
Cautiously optimistic = every Bronco fan before every season. I cannot wait for the season to get started. The offseason sucks.

Anyways, I believe that Corey Davis will be huge again this year. I also expect the entire secondary to be extremely solid. Celiscar, Zamort, Currie, Atkins. Can't ask for much better in the defensive backfield.

I'm sure it's safe to say that a lot of freshmen will get playing time. I expect to see Asantay Brown, Nick Matich, Nathan Braster, at least 2 of the 3 RBs, Wyatt Pfeifer (at longsnapper) and of course the 2 JUCO LBs Jakevin Jackson and Jason Sylva. We could possibly also see Chukwuma Okorafor, Kenny Finley, Javonte Seabury (maybe at punt or kick return?) and Chance Stewart.

It will be interesting to see how the QB battle shakes out, as well as the depth chart at RB. One things for sure, we will see freshmen playing on the D-line.

I'd sit out Chance this year for sure.

One encouraging thing is that they are not sitting around accepting the 1-11 season from last year. They have it posted all over the locker room (from what I hear), and are talking about it all the time. They have pictures in the locker room of CMU celebrating their victory last year. Motivation!

I'd sit out Chance this year for sure.

He won't start the season but he could finish it.

He has a better arm than Terrell, and is a legit 6'5", so he can see over the D. Terrell became more of a dual threat as the season wound down. He missed too many wide open receivers in key situations.

Another receiver will emerge to go along with Davis.

Film

Maybe you're confusing Chance Stewart with Darian Chance. They both have Chance in their name, but one is a 5th year Sr. RB, and the other is a true freshmen QB. I know evaluating players isn't in your wheelhouse, like say, evaluating the blowback from Harlem Shake videos, but getting their names straight is a start.

Oh I believe it and you're out here waxing poetic based on his play you saw on "film" against nothing close to what he's going to see next fall.

Idle chit is the expression I remember the WWII guys using.

But you can't teach 6'5", being athletic, and having a strong arm. See Tim Hiller as a freshmen (although his arm wasnt as strong as Stewart's)

If Terrell isn't getting it done by mid October this kid will be the starter.

RE: Looking forward to the football season!
I'd sit Chance just based on he is a freshman quarterback, he passed up enrolling early and getting a few months head start along with spring ball, the team will still not be that good this year, confidence is everything with the QB.

Don't throw him to the wolves and have him get all beat up. Give him the year, let him compete in 2015 when we might be ready to play ball. Terrell and Cam Thomas will do just fine 2014. If Terrell does real good and we win 6, let Stewart compete in 2016. Don't rush him into it. And don't waste Cam either, he should be much better this fall.

And equally, if we are winning 1 mid October, don't throw in the towel and stick the freshman in. You do that and he is toast. Let him age a little, like good wine and cheese. He'll only get better.

The last two Heismen winners were RS freshmen QB's. Im not looking for Stewart to be a Heismen winner as a true freshmen or a senior, but it's not a stretch that he could be bit better than Zach Terrell by mid season.

Did playing Hiller as a freshmen ruin him?

RE: Looking forward to the football season!
Blowing a redshirt year on a potentially great freshman QB on a 4 win at best season makes no sense.
