Andre are you from Atlanta or have lived here or visited recently. In fact there are a lot of places for students to live right off of GSU's campus and in fact several thousand students live in the Old Fourth Ward, Inaman Park, Edgewood, Reynoldstown and Grant Park neighborhoods just to name a few. Actually if there is any danger its that the residential real estate market around campus is heating up to the point that it may be more difficult to find a cheap rental property in 5 to 7 years.
Yeah, I have lived in Atlanta. I guess there are places to live around GA State, but I would tend to think that one's parents would have to pay the rent at those places. For some people that's an option, and I guess there are always loans... but I had to chuckle at some of those neighborhoods you mentioned. I'd love to live in the Inman Park / Reynoldstown / Candler Park area, but I didn't have anywhere near that kind of money in college. My friends (with full-time jobs) were getting chased out of that area by yuppies 10 years ago. They ended up in places like Riverdale and Hapeville. You can take a train or bus from those neighborhoods to Georgia State, and I think that's what a lot of people do, but it does result in more of a "commuter" feel
There are plenty of un-renovated houses in those areas and even in Summerhill and Peoplestown near Turner field and there are students living with roommates in all of those neighborhoods. I guess the commuter feel results from us not being some bumble town and actually having mass transit so people in those neighborhoods can park their cars.
I know you're lying, because no one actually lives in Atlanta, GA. I wouldn't consider Huntington or Hattiesburg to be "bumble towns."
Actually, there has be a bit of a residential resurgence in ATL in the past decade.
Also, compared to any major metro area, Huntington and Hattiesburg are "bumble towns." Its all about perspective.
I probably wouldn't spend more than a night in Hattiesburg now that I'm out of college, but it was a fantastic place to go to school.
I like Atlanta a lot, too, and I think Georgia State would be a decent addition. I don't see them morphing into a sports-driven school, but I think it would be good to have a CUSA presence in Atlanta.
I don't ever want to live anywhere without a subway / MARTA / whatever again. Menopause Against Drunk Drivers is just too powerful.

Marshall, if I remember correctly, has caused a lot of problems for CUSA and it's member schools.
One of the immediate instances that comes to mind is Marshall vs Tulane in baseball when Marshall came up after the Saturday game and told Rick Jones they had to play again in an hour because of their flight. It was something that could have been told a long time before, but was told in a post game handshake. I've heard there are countless other things the Marshall Athletic Department has done to make the Conference office unhappy.

Do you have any proof of these things? I haven't heard of them.

You definitely heard that wrong. Completely wrong.

I'm just saying what I've read here over the past few years. That's a specific incident I remember a lot of complaining about. Maybe Tulane fans can shed some light on the situatipn. I'm sure some are still lurking.

RE: Does the CUSA office have a bone to pick with MU?
This thread made me look up the origin of the idiom "bone to pick". Goes back to dogs chewing endlessly on a bone, as in picking it clean, or getting to the root of the matter in a discussion. Sorry, I get a kick out of some expressions. Carry on.
