Marshall's new turf is AstroTurf. I know you're referring to the ugly original AstroTurf, we had that until like 2005, but I did notice a trend. Schools were AstroTurf 1970s-early 2000s, then they went with FieldTurf. Now AstroTurf has a better product and schools are going back to their company.
From Marshall's athletic website:
Quote:Joan C. Edwards Stadium
Joan C. Edwards Stadium, named in honor of philanthropist Joan Edwards, provides the Thundering Herd football program with one of the greatest home field advantages in all of college football....
The state-of-the-art facility features a FieldTurf playing surface that was installed prior to the 2005 season, a modern Daktronics scoreboard with video and statistics display capabilities, 4,332 chair back seats and 20 deluxe indoor sky suites that feature closed circuit television, a high tech audio system, and seat from 12 to 36 people each.

Do any other fans of existing membership schools have a bad feeling adding all these schools with tiny stadiums (FIU, Western, KY, ODU, Charlotte)? It seems like I-AA, although we played in a 30,000 seater in our I-AA days.
I guess we could look at it another way...
what good does it do to have 38,000 seats when you only avg about 26000 over the last 10 years? and only 1 year of 30,000.
I'm not trying to be rude but since Marshall can't fill a 30,000 seat stadium maybe the money your school spent adding more seats would have been better spent on the look of the stadium?
talking about looking like high school
I don't know about the other schools on your list but I know one thing with 100% certainty...
when Western has the need to add more seats it will get done and when finished it won't look like a eye sore. It will look like it fits in with the campus. Not just steel beams sticking in the ground holding up concrete.
I WILL NEVER WANT THIS STADIUM TORN DOWN. IT IS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD. ITS PERFECT IN MY EYES!!!!

I'm not going to try to argue about the size of our stadium, it is what it is. But I will say that it feels MUCH bigger than the listed capacity when inside.
As for the high school comment, we do not have the largest stadium in the conference but it IS one of the nicest stadiums. There is nothing high school about it.
When the stadium was expanded the "new" side at the top of the picture was designed to be able to easily add an upper deck to bring capacity to around 45K in the future.
What part of this says "high school?"

I think it's a nice looking stadium. I cannot wait until we unveil plans for our new stadium. How many does WKU stadium hold? We are looking at a 30 000 seat stadium expandable to I think 50 000.

Right now we are just over 22k. With standing room and a null, you could squeeze 24k. Not the biggest, but definitely one of the nicest.
