Sad about Ms. Maxine. She was a sweet lady.

I am surprised that they have to do surgery on Trey. Most of the time Keratoconus can be taken care of by wearing Gas Perm (Hard) Contact Lens particularly on someone as young a Trey.

RIP Ms. Kemp. I hope Willie holds his head high and Trey gets the treatment needed without the financial burden.

RE: Please read ( from Harold Byrd)
Quote:Dear Tiger Family,

As a Tiger student athlete, Trey Draper always had an effervescent smile and positive attitude. Trey and the Draper family are legendary in their support going back to Leonard Draper, Sr.'s mentorship of Tiger legend Larry Finch. During a routine physical, Trey was diagnosed with Keratoconus, an eye disease so rare that its cause is still unknown. The doctors at Memphis Eye and Cataract associates have referred him to a clinic in Indianapolis for a surgery on each eye. The experimental surgeries are not covered by insurance with the first surgery to be performed on July 9 at MECA (Memphis Eye and Cataract Associates) at a cost of $2,000. Each surgery will require Trey and his parents, Leonard Jr. and Wanda, to make four trips to Indianapolis with a four day stay in addition to the surgeries $4,000 cost.

If you can help Trey and his parents with a donation to offset the costs of surgeries and travel, please mail a donation made payable to Leonard Draper, Jr. c/o Harold Byrd 6281 Stage Road, Memphis TN 38134. Please include your address and phone number in order for the Drapers to thank you. Trey and his family, I know, will be eternally grateful for any assistance you can provide. The donations are not tax deductible.

On another note of concern, it is with sadness we report the passing of Ms. Maxine Kemp, Mother of former student athlete Willie Kemp. Ms. Maxine fought a hard fight against Polysystic Kidney Disease (PKD) before succumbing. Visitation will be Friday, June 20 from 6-7 p.m. at the Dixie Funeral Home, 750 Bills Street Bolivar, TN 38008. Services will be at 1st Baptist Church , 826 W. Market Street, Bolivar, TN 38008. Willie Kemp's email I have on file is wkemp1@gmail.com Ms. Maxine was inspirational in her positive attitude and dogged fight against PKD. Please remember her and Willie in your prayers. Willie was very devoted and close to his Mother.

Thanks for remembering both of these Tiger athletes and their families.

On behalf of Coach Josh Pastner and the Tiger Family, we extend our best wishes to each family.

Sincerely,
Harold Byrd
