It will be nice to see our $500,000 coach beat a program that has a $2,000,000 coach in his last year of coaching at DePaul.

It would be even sweeter to see our $325,000 coach beat the 2 million dollar man from the notso Big East.

NIU is on the rise and DEPAUL is still struggling. NIU coaches and players know that this is going to be a great year. Monty makes 300 not 500k. Also, Highsmith is doing great!

Sorry about salary mistake. He will be well worth his 350000 salary next year. Next year could be special and then he will be making 500k plus the following year. Thank god Nader took his off court problems to Iowa State.

Unless he's superhuman he's not going to be himself this season. Running and a positive attitude on Twitter means very littler. RG3 is the most recent example of those same things. He had the ESPN special showing him do strenuous activities including very fast sprints (he had the 2nd fastest 300IM hurdle time ever in HS)

But the big difference in ACL recovery between sports and why it's harder to come back in basketball than pretty much anything else is boils down to one thing: jumping. When you run, you have approximately 4-5 times your body weight worth of ground reaction forces when your leg hits the ground. When you jump it can reach 10-12 times your body weight. If you wanted to compare it to football players who come back you have to take into account they run on softer turf and grass while Highsmith is playing on a hardwood court. Football is an obviously grueling sport, but the jumping (and landing) required in basketball is uniquely different and requires the knee and the surrounding musculature to be in a more completely healed and strengthened condition. Returning too quickly can increase the risk of overuse injuries. I'd hope he doesn't even return until conference season starts and never pushes past the 20 minute limit. 10-12 minutes a game would be ideal.

I really feel like Derek Rose wont feel comfortable playing until he thinks Miami is weak enough to beat. Somehow, the Miami Heat really really got inside his head. When it comes to Dontel's injury every guy is different. What I have seen him doing, I believe he will b a big contributor this year.

He had no support last year, this year he has orris and johnson, and a better baker threloff and bowie.

Its the same as DRose, he had no support so he pushed too hard when he came back and he put too much pressure on himself.

This team will make a push for the NCAA tourney this year. Mark my words.
