Martel Moore released from the Roughriders
Moore Released

After cutting nine players Sunday, Saskatchewan made three more moves Monday.

Non-import defensive back Hugo Lopez, import receiver Martel Moore and import defensive lineman Carlton Powell were released. Chamblin said he's most concerned with having enough depth on the roster; if he doesn't think there is enough, the Roughriders may have to look at other teams' cuts to find it.

I was hoping he'd catch on somewhere. Still might.

Link didn't work. That's too bad. Hope he still gets a chance with a team somewhere.

Still really surprised he didn't catch on somewhere, I would have put some money that he would have had some time in the NFL...nothing crazy, but would have thought he could have made it on a practice squad or WR5.

Yeah, I wonder what keeps him on the wrong side of the cut line. What's he lacking in the eyes of evaluators?

He's kind of undersized for the type of reciever he is.

I agree. I don't think he has the size/speed/range to line up as outside receiver in the NFL. I still figured he could make a team as the 4th/5th WR on the depth chart but I guess that didn't happen as well.

I thought the Falcons were high on him last summer though?

Chicago should have a CFL team. The CFL season starts early(this week) and they schedule lots of non Sat/Sun games. With all the talent this region produces and with no requirement to have Canadians on the roster; a Chicago franchise should do well. They recently settled a labor impasse and the per team salary cap is only $5M.

Yea that didn't work out too well last time the CFL came to the US. In the next five years, the NFL will have a development league set-up.

It could be the resurrection of The Chicago Blitz. It just might work as the USFL is not around to sue the CFL, like the trouble they had in Baltimore. And even if they do get sued, it will only cost them a couple bucks.

Here's a fun fact. Huskie Tim Tyrell played QB for the Chicago Blitz.

I wonder it they could actually get away with putting a team in Washington and calling them the Redskins, now that the trademark has been canceled. Hmmm.
