The OP has a point. Even with an 0-12 Miami team, we were tied at the half...AT HOME. If we overlook anyone, it could have catastrophic consequences.

POINT OF CLARIFICATION: Wofford was 1998

Doc has been preaching complacency and how the team can't get caught in it since the middle of last year. I don't think the staff will allow the team to get complacent.

We should be favored to win every game in the regular season as long as Cato is healthy and in the starting line up.

No, I agree...we should actually be double digit favorites in every game... But the Akron game is the one that scares me... we always seem to stomp 'er flat up there.

We are 8-4 vs Akron. We lost the last 2 up there because Byron was playing on a broken leg and the Charlie Frye Hail Mary. The Frye Hail Mary should have never had a chance to happen. There was a hold on the previous play right in front of the refs that wasn't called.

Akron isn't the game that scares me on the road. Akron is 9-21 in InfoCision Stadium since 2009 when it opened up and 4 of those wins come from IAA schools.

The game that worries me more than any is the Nov 22 game at UAB. In 2012 we went down to UAB (2-7) and came out flat. They went up 38-14 and we didn't have enough to come back, losing 38-31.

We take anywhere between 5-6K to Athens and still usually your only sellout in a 24K Peden Stadium. Taking the same to Yager would be doable. We had 9K in Louisville a few years ago.

only sell out? lol. Here's a list of the top 10 home games for Ohio over the last 4 years, half are sell outs, all are +96% to capacity.

25,893 v NMSU 9/8/12
25,542 v Akron 10/13/12
24,836 v Marshall 9/14/13
24,511 v North Texas 9/7/13
24,244 v Marshall 9/17/11
23,826 v Central Michigan 10/12/13
23,673 v Norfolk St 9/2//12
23,155 v Gardner Webb 9/10/11
23,146 v Ball State 10/15/11
22,955 v Wofford 9/4/10

now compare that to Marshall's top 10 home games over the last 4 years-

41,382 v West Virginia 9/10/10
34,424 v Virginia Tech 9/24/11
33,436 v Ohio 9/15/12
28,837 v UTSA 10/5/13
28,143 v Ohio 9/25/10
27,509 v Rice 10/15/11
27,189 v Tulsa 10/6/12
27,148 v Miami 8/31/13
26,317 v Gardner Webb 9/7/13
25,317 v W Carolina 9/8/12
25,117 v ECU 11/29/13

clearly Ohio has a bigger impact on Marshall's crowds than Marshall has on Ohio's crowds. Sorry, but there is no way Marshall is filling up 1/4 of a stadium that is already near or at capacity on most Saturdays regardless of the opponent. 2k to 3k tops.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Ohio U have the second smallest football stadium in division 1-A? I think U of Idaho is the smallest, but it is an indoor stadium?

UMass, BGSU, WKU, Ball St and ODU are all smaller as well but regardless Peden is overdue for expansion.

This isn't 2012. I've said that going undefeated is very difficult, but I really think we are going to have a near 1999 level defense this year. That allows your offense to start slow without falling behind big. In 2012 we had to score almost every possession just to be competitive.

I agree this isn't 2012. I also don't think it was the defense that let us down then. I put all the blame on Chris Rippon who didn't put our defensive players in the right position to make plays.

We didn't have the playmakers we do now but we had decent players in Arrington, LeGrande, The Big O-, B Mitchell, Dunston, Lovett, Myers, D. Mitchell, Pickett, Holmes and Meadows. They just was never put in a position to make plays and for the most part played 8-10 yards off the ball.

Rippon was hired by Colombia after he left Marshall. Last year Colombia went a whopping 0-10 in the Ivy League (Ivies still play a 10 game schedule). Colombia's defense gave up 402 points or 40.2 per game.

These are the most important games in my opinion. OOC games vs. other Mid major teams.

We have to win all of those if we want to be considered the best of the rest.

It won't be MUR.

For those that don't understand what I said, here it is. When Marshall was in the MAC from 97-04 things got distracting at 1st. Both Marshall University and Miami University (only one of the few times you will see I don't refer to them as Little Miami) use "MU". So to know who we were talking about instead of typing Marshall or Miami all the time it became: Miami (MUR"ed") and Marshall (MUG"reen").

This game is so reminiscent of the 2005 game with UCF that it scares me. UCF was on a 17 game losing streak and had never beaten Marshall. We went into Orlando believing this was another slam dunk, but we lost 23-13 and the UCF fans went absolutely, freaking nuts. (I was there. I've never been in such a state of shock over a football game. And, BTW, we haven't beaten UCF since, but that's another story.)

This is a road game for us (and, if you follow Marshall, at all, you know what that means), and unless Coach Holliday is really on his game, the players will believe this is a slam dunk. They've been told that in all of the press surrounding this team and this inane talk about an undefeated season. At some point they are probably believing it. As Doc said recently, complacency is this team's greatest danger, right now.

Miami returns a whole bunch of starters, particularly on offense, and they've hired a darned good coach to bring them around. Yes, we should win this game handily, but PLEASE remember the Knights in 2005!

That's all I'm saying!

Why do you state Miami returning a lot of starters as a good thing? If you didn't notice, those starters ******* suck.

Saying Little Miami returns a lot of starts and trying to make it sound good is like Marshall in 2007 (3 wins) saying in 2008 we return a lot of starters (4 wins).

As I said having a new coaching staff and 3-4 Notre Dame transfers will not help Little Miami this year. If they are lucky they win 2 maybe 3 games this year, but one of those wins will not be against Marshall. They could even go 0-4 in OCC with Marshall, EKU, Michigan and Cincy on their schedule.

Their chance for wins come against:

EKU (6-6)
UMass (1-11)
Kent (4-8)
WMU (1-11)
