RE: Ditched Homecoming Queen for her Attractive but little known sister!
I grew up an NCSU fan as lots of family members went to school there. I was a big basketball fan from their glory days and remember watching the 1983 championship as a little kid. I considered transferring to NCSU after JUCO but ECU accepted more of my credits so it just made more financial sense for me at the time. Honestly, I didn't know a whole lot about ECU other than I was really interested in their construction management program. Long story short, I don't really hate NCSU... that feeling is for UNC and always will be. I can't remember the last time I watched an NCSU sporting event other than when they played ECU. The feelings I have for NCSU now are more indifference than anything else but it's a fun football rivalry for my family.

In CT, UConn is obviously the homecoming queen however I did get to watch her grow to national prominence in men's and women's hoops growing up in the 80's and 90's. Growing up a UConn fan made me a huge college hoops and Big East fan. Never really had an interest in college football until UConn went FBS, now I follow it pretty closely.

Father went to Washington. Mother went to Texas/FSU.

I grew up rooting for the Huskies...and when I got closer to graduating high school, became enamored with the Seminoles. But when I made a decision to choose a university I went to UCF's superior computer science program. All-in UCF since.

Dad went to UNC and mom to nursing school. I was a UNC fan growing up. In my day, it was either UNC or NCSU. Everyone else sucked except an occassional spurt from Maryland or Virginia.

I was going to NCSU when during my senior HS year a friend invited me to ECU for the weekend. Needless to say, I ended up going there and mom cried for 4 - 1/2 years until I graduated and got a very good job.

Cincinnatians tend to be parochial, and growing up, I thought of myself as a Cincinnatian first and an Ohioan...well, I really didn't think of myself as an Ohioan.

Columbus State has always had a weird relationship with Southwest Ohio, because it tends to be seriously less loyal to the Buckeyes than the rest of the state.

Point is, you'll find a lot of people in Cincinnati who never really thought of Ohio State as a prom queen. I never did, and now I certainly never will.
