Very cool trophy and a great story behind it. (Not many trophies have this type of meaning/connection).

Winner of the Croke Park Classic will earn the Rooney Trophy...named after Pittsburgh Steeler Chairmain and former US Ambassador to Ireland, Dan Rooney.



Info about this most unique trophy from game sites:

The Dan Rooney Trophy is a replica football made of bog yew and Pittsburgh steel. The yew comes from what remains of forests that grew 4,200 years ago and lie deep in the Irish midlands. The steel is left from the construction of Heinz Field, the home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers.

UCF's fairly new row of trophy cases are filling up quite nicely and yes, obviously, this cool trophy would look pretty good on those shelves as well.

The side elements are meant to look like a gridiron coming up out of the ground vertically. Gaellic Football doesn't have yard lines...

The number of "yard lines" on the side if the trophy represent the seating levels of Croke Park. One line for each seating level.

This could be our 3rd trophy in 3 games. I like this.
