They're stuck by the students who can get pretty nasty, right next to Boomer the Cannon which will take your ear off or reset a pacemaker if you're not prepared, and is also the last place to get any sun.

It's a pretty sizeable section, and the view isn't bad because there's not really a bad spot. Most visitors sit there, unless you're trash like UTSA fans and sit in the middle of the home side because you have no class. I'm gonna make sure to sit at the 40 on the first row and drape my green Texas flag over the side. In fact, I hear that there's a bunch of us trying to get the first few rows except in the donation and student section, just to be ******** back.

Anyway...here's a pic.

Yellow is the visitors.

You can see the red, I think this was the UH game.

We filled your visitor section, but some of us just wanted better seats than that. A lot of us on Rowdytalk.com like to create our own visitor section for two reasons: 1) We'd like better seats than what's offered to visitors at most stadiums, and 2) Many of us know each other and want to continue the same conversations we have on our website while we're watching the game without being separated in the crowd. There's a camaraderie among us.

If that makes us trash, I'll proudly wear that badge, and so will the rest of the Rowdytalk crew who take part in our group buys. Btw, I had pleasant conversations with some UNT faithful on that side of the field, so I'm guessing you weren't anywhere nearby.

You definitely did not fill up your visitor allotment, unless you count your band. UTEP brought more, or at least in their allotment.

The seating map I posted has the upper two sections not being visitor but we sell the upper level as visitors as of last year and UTEP filled up about 4 or 5 sections, y'all did 3 with the band. But that's besides the point. Who knows who would have showed had it not been balls cold. I was impressed by the turnout. I'm just not a fan of people visitors sitting in home sections. There's a reason why it doesn't happen at bigger schools. That's all I'm saying. I find it disrespectful--and I find it even more disrespectful when you do your chants in the middle of the home section. I was by y'all. And it was annoying. I don't do it when I go to professional games and sit with a bunch of home fans, and I don't do it at college games, I sit in the visitor section. We're making a special asterisk for the UTSA game. Which I'm really looking forward to.

I'm good with a rivalry. This kind of stuff breeds a rivalry. It's just my opinion, though, on the seats thing.

It looked like we did from my end of the stadium. Maybe I was in error with regard to the size of the visitor section. At any rate, if not for the 40-degree weather, I think our contingent would've equaled UTEP, if not surpassed 'em.

But are we not supposed to chant at our game? The whole point of us showing up is to show support for our university, right? I'll admit we had a couple jerks in our crowd, but you'll find that with any crowd, just as you freely admit that your own fans (in the student section especially) can be jerks. My point is this... We weren't over there in that section to rile people up. We were there for the reasons I stated in my previous message, and that's why we're also purchasing our own section at UH's new stadium for our opener this year (and currently have over a hundred on Rowdytalk who've bought into that).

It's interesting to see that my friendly invitation has turned into a UNT-UTSA war.

Not a war at all, dude. At least not from my end. I wasn't the one who called the other "trash". Just trying to explain why some of us buy the seats we do, and do so in the most respectable manner I can.

Already stated in a previous comment that I think it was the 30-yard line. I can understand how you may have missed it in the midst of the whole UNT/UTSA side convo.

Sorry, I did miss it. Anyway, the point of my original invitation was that if you (anybody) come to Rice Stadium, you can get decent seats. I hope in the future we can attract enough following to make that not the case, but for now, anyway, we won't stuff you in a far corner like an unwanted brother-in-law.

Yall all come!

I agree that we're not stuffed in a corner, but it's largely due to the availability of seats. But again, the fact that you guys even average 20K with an enrollment of less than 7K speaks volumes to me about the allegiance Rice students and alumni have towards their school. When you draw home crowds that are 3 times the size of the university, I think it's safe to say that's more impressive than what the rest of the schools in C-USA can claim, and most schools in the nation actually.

RE: Football - Where is every one's visitor seating?
As far as student's they can not sit between the 35's unless they are 15 rows away from the field. Western had to move ours. I use to have tickets up top but sit in the student section with my son. Now I'm still sitting in the same spot but must buy the ticket for that section.

The main disappointment I had with the Western schedule...no road game in Texas. We made the trip 3 times last year, once for football, once basketball and once for the F4 (no I'm not a uk fan) and enjoyed all three trips. Looked forward to another In-N-Out Burger and maybe a orange donut from Round Rock

Visitors sit in section 138 (bottom left) in the Alamodome. Of course Texas State, Houston, Oklahoma State, etc. brought a lot more than that. The nice thing about our stadium is that its capacity allows for a lot more visiting fans to make the game. Incidentally, the red section is student seating.

Did C-USA not make you guys move part of your student section? They wouldn't allow us to have any students directly behind the visiting team bench so student section was moved deeper into the endzone. The made us move it at least to the 20. Looks like your student section is at least to the 30.

See below where there is small sliver of green into 2G and 1H. This all used to be student seating...

Yes, I believe we did move the students out of section 132 as it was too close to the visitor bench. The pic Volkmar posted is slightly out of date. There were also adjustments to the season ticket sections since that image.

Here is the latest pdf (as I can't find a newer image on the web):

True, it not's out of the goodness of our hearts, but nonetheless come visit and enjoy actually seeing the game, in many cases from seats better than you can get at home. I certainly hope the day comes again when we can afford to be less nice, but for now, yall come visit.

Thanks for your kind words.

you're in the hot arse sun at 6 bells on the 10......yeah, it has to suck....

edit; 'course this year, the 50 should be wide arse open for a group of around 100....other than la tech and neb, that's pretty much the norm attendance-wise....you'll still be in the sun though....check that, just buy on the west side....there will be plenty of those available also....
