At least for that stadium, which is a billion dollar plus stadium (percentage-wise it might be a bit high for a stadium that costs half or a third of that).

It would be wonderful to have that type of stadium in South Florida... But... fans here are most always wishy-washy bandwagoners.

Green I enjoy your posts...thanks. I hope Miami can make something happen. My son had a full ride offer to Miami but chose another school. It was a very nice campus. My favorite Cuban Restaurants are on Calle Ocho near the campus.

Here's a radical idea from the website, Lost Letterman. Why don't the Hurricanes simply play their home games in Marlins Park? Forget the Beckham people and the Dolphins. This could make the most sense of any of your realistic options.

I'm not sure why UM hasn't publicly been interested in it and I'm not sure why they chose to sign on with the Dolphins for 20-25 years when they knew the Marlins would be opening a stadium. I'd assume the Marlins don't want them. And about that pic, UM wouldn't be afforded a grassed-in infield during their football games.

Not to be that guy, but I think we have seen that is not true. The Hurricanes last year for one. Damn I remember when the Marlins won the Wrold Series, and could not even get 17,000 fans per game. I think they had the worst attendance in baseball that year other than Tampa. And maybe the homeless Canadian team.

Realistically, in order to do that, they probably needed to work with the Marlins to make the stadium suitable for both. That configuration, would work for a temporary solution or occasional game: you can't have that be a permanent seating arrangement.

let me disabuse you of a common misconception ...
attendance spikes usually occur after our teams win big ...
in 2002, the year after the Miami Hurricanes won their last national championship, U averaged 70,000 ...
and even the miserable marlins averaged 65,000 during their 2003 improbable postseason: divisional, league & world series victor ...

IMO the Canes could use Marlins Park for games vs. FCS teams and smaller ACC crowds like Duke, UVa, etc., and continue to play bigger games in Sun Life.

The biggest problem with sharing a stadium with a baseball team is September and Possibly October the Baseball Team is still playing.

And pay rent at two stadiums? For a game with 30,000 fans in attendance?

Of course, that assumes a financially-acceptable deal at both locations (1/2 rent at each?)

25-year lease with Sun Life Stadium.

What you fail to understand is we have a huge fanbase and they really do care, if not by showing up to games by buying lots of stuff $$$!!

RE: Drumbeat for UM/MLS Stadium by Marlins Park (Old Orange Bowl Site)
You do not have a "huge" fanbase. Not. At. All. Not even close. Not even a little bit. Only UM fans fail to realize that.

The person I ignored has proven time and time again that their OPINION isn't all that valid. But I don't have ANY issue pointing out to someone that what they say is stupid. I don't need to ignore someone because of a stupid opinion. I'm just tired of reading that garbage-a**, stereotypical UM fan commenting style. Not going to read that sh*t. I asked them earlier on to please not post like that and to avoid the stereotype. They had a right to choose not to, just as I have a right to choose not to read it. Don't give a damn if you like it or not.

I mean, I'm actually being nice to UM. This year FSU is likely going to improve their record to 8-2 vs UM in the last 10 meetings. UM has NEVER won their ACC Division. So, obviously, UM has NEVER won an ACC Conference Title. UM is a pathetic 1-5 in bowl games in the last 9 years. UM hasn't made a BCS bowl in 10 years, and hasn't made a major bowl in 9 years (Peach).

Shirley, you don't want me comparing those piss-ant numbers to what FSU's done in the same time span. But eh, maybe you do want that. Five rangz yo. Because UM's glory days of the 80s are so damn recent, hardly nobody remembers them, and NO current recruits were even alive for them. Hell, current recruits probably aren't even old enough to remember UM's most recent title. Too bad. So sad.

Besides Hurricanes fans, you know who else is thrilled about the University of Miami football program's revival?
Executives at corporate partners ABC and ESPN.

"A good Miami team is good for college football -- they've always put up good ratings,'' said Dave Brown, ESPN's vice president/programming and acquisitions. "You have one of the most popular teams in the sport ... People will return in large numbers to watch them.''

Consider that four of ESPN's six most-viewed college football games ever involved UM. ... In 2006, ESPN's UM games averaged 4.3 million homes, compared with 2.0 million for others.
-- Miami Herald 9/25/09

the same can be said of duke basketball ...
"you don't have a huge fan base."
but love us or hate us, y'all will still be watching ...
