That said, how many people would be willing to adopt a mentally deficient child? If the mother has an IQ of 54 then the child would seem to be at a high risk for the same disability. It is a bad situation.

Many many many people.

Would you?

Yes.

What do you know about adoption?

Women should always have the right to choose without government intervention. Don't you right-wingers agree?

Well that's not the point. In the UK the law doesn't really tell you what to do with regards to abortion if you are deemed able to make that decision. Without the mental capacity to make decisions someone has to step in, like some others here I wonder where the parents are. However failing that the law must act in the best interests of the people (or person in this case), that's what (at least in the judge's opinion) happened.

I really don't like this case but I'm willing to trust that a senior judge, well versed in family law and with all the evidence in front of him, is more capable of coming to a 'correct' decision than I am.

Were you dropped as a child. I am against abortion. What do you think my answer would be to that question?

I would choose to adopt a healthy child, of which there are sadly too many in need, first. Being a single, career minded, parent would be tough enough with a non disabilities child.
